Whats your Clutch Setup???

    Hello,

    Nearly got all the bits together to go Hybrid and looking to upgrade my clutch as it has started slipping so.....

    I am interested in what setups people got and how they rate them.

    Currently I am aiming towards Spec stage 2 and Spec SMF.

    Any Ideas / reviews

    Tufftys set up might be worth a look it's in his build thread. 3 hybrids around cheltenham soon huh? were gonna give the scoobys a complex haha!

    Yeah we will show them! With their big loud Jap Slash Cut Exhausts, keeping me awake on a Sunday night down Kingsditch retail park!!!

    I have had a look at tufftys, he seems pleased with his setup, Thought It might be abit overkill for my setup?

    I dont really know, I would of thought it would just last longer not having to deal with the extra oomph that tuffty gets, saying that I changed the clutch and dmf half a year ago for oem parts before I was sure I wanted to go hybrid so thats how it will stay for now.

    OEM clutch for the hybrid is fine IMO.

    Mine has been fine so far - and I will only change it through age as opposed to it being sub standard for the car.

    You will also most likely need to replace the flywheel as well (Audi recommend doing it). Flywheels of OEM spec are here: LUK Audi | Euro Car Parts UK

    You can also get uprated kits for similar money - which is what I will most likeyl do. My flywheel will deffo need replacing when it comes to clutch change time, so I may well look into this sort of thing:

    If you only need to change the clutch, go for the OEM gear.

    Wouldnt touch Techniclutch stuff..I know you`re using it as an example but thought i`d say anyway.

    I looked at a fair few reviews online when looking for a kit for the A4 and every one i could find was something about them failing and being utter useless. None of them were coming from forums which had many big power cars and so on. Were the likes of the 106 and Corsa C forums lol.

    2nd that as i work with a lot of Ford aftermarket stuff and they were really bad clutches going within a few hundred miles of them bin fitted

    Lots of horror story's on ford forums

    Cheers for the info,

    I dont fancy really changing a clucth just to go OE again, I am after something with a bit more grabability (if that a word)

    I think im going to have to go OE just cos my pockets have got rather small after the ESA stopped paying my GF even though she has just had a transplant (w8nkers)

    My setup certainly ticks that box the only question left unanswered at the moment is longevity but its the same spec as MTM have used on their conversions in the past so can't be all bad... I would certainly be looking to fit this setup again based on its current performance...
