    Hi all,

Could someone tell me what this bit is?

Sorry about the image quality, I took it with my iPhone

I've removed it today and it was full (well it had some) of a brown liquid in it, it looks all gunked up.

Will it be OK to clean out with some carb cleaner?

    TIA,

    Alan

Is it the crankcase breather? Its a bit hard to tell from the closeness of the pic!

    On what engine?

    It's on the 1.8T

It's situated just above the turbo and it's plugged into the hose that comes off the maf sensor....

Oh, and I disconnected the maf sensor, and the ESP light came on when I drove it.

It went off when I reconnected it though.... should this happen?

I've just been hunting on the net, it is the crank breather.....

I just don't seem to have any boost. But since I've disconnected the maf sensor and reconnected it it seems to be boosting better.

Or is that just me thinking it feels better??? lol

Just drove the car to Sainsbury's, and the car is loads better. You can hear the turbo whistling and all that. Do you think I should clean the connectors?

cant hurt to mate more so before you buy a new maf sensor and see how it goes i had this and the first time it was the maf then it was the n75 valve

Where is the N75 valve located? and what does it do?

I've been out in the car again, it's completely different..... acceleration, mid range everything is so much better.

It's getting plugged in at some point this week just to get checked out......

It's in a similar place on the 1.8t, behind the drivers headlight, but lower down.

You can see it from the top, but it's mor accessible from underneath the car with the undertray removed.
