bought a dump valve off ebay a few weeks ago only a cheap one at £40 so may explain my problems anyway fitted it and car kept cutting out and running lumpy then a few days ago was looking at forge ones and they said there recirculating one needed fitting opposite way to standard bosch one so a thought that's how my ebay one should go on so went outsie fitted it opposite way to factory one and it worked gave off a mint chatter noise instead of the "tssshhh" noise which i expected anyway afte running perfectly for about an hour it made a busses airbrake noise and the car started cutting out and struggling to start anyone know why or experienced this?????? what I dont get is why it worked perfectly for over an hour then started playing up?? gutted coz the noise sounded mint

Hmm, check it's still connected correctly and if so, remove and order a Forge one. Don't really want to be doing any damage.

a put original one back on straight after it wasn't running right what damage can be caused?? just don't get how it worked for an hour or so sounding mint then cutting ect a mate says the ecu may have took a while to pick up on something not being right then when it realised it wasn't by having a different one on it may have went into somekind of limp mode?? a know forge are mint but surely all brands of dump valves have pretty much the same internals and work the same? anyone got a forge one on that dumps? and runs properly?

thats a snide split R valve
    there ****
you need the real forge split R valve
they sound good but can cause lumpy idle and stalls
like i said above these cars dont realy like this kinda valve.

I was reading this this thread earlier http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-...ations-k03-k03s-agu-aum-engines-fwd-cars.html The following information was taken from it:

What dump valve for my pride and joy?

STANDARD DVs ARE TOTALLY BOSS FOR 1.8t ENGINE ON THEIR STOCK TURBO.

Just wanted to throw that out there right away, to save you guys some money. It is a common misconception and as somebody new to tuning you might not understand this, but in short the standard DV can safely and leak free hold more boost than our turbos can make whilst reacting quickly and efficiently, so unless yours is faulty there is no need to change it.

If your car flutters and sounds like a rally car when you lift off, or does anything other than a crisp and clean "Kachooo" noise then your DV is toast. You can press up from the bottom port, and place your thumb over the top nipple and see if the valve itself drops. If it does, it is split and fit for the bin.

The purpose of a dump valve is to rapidly remove pressure from the intake tract to stop the air from trying to return through the turbo and causing compressor stall.

You can fit a Forge 007p dump valve, but if you do then please make sure it has the newly revised piston with the rubber o ring at the base of the piston.

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT FITTING A SPLIT R OR AN ATMOSPHERIC DUMP VALVE, THEY DO NOT WORK.

The noise you heard is turbo stall basically the throttle shutting and the all the air in the intake bouncing off the turbine blades. To be honest even though this is meant to be the end of the world according to every forum you go on, Cossies never ran dump valves and all the 200sx's i used to be involved with removed the standard valves so that you'd get this noise. So you thinking it's working was actually the valve been inopertive as you had it backwards until im guessing the diapram split hence you running issues.

I prefer the turbo stall noise but in practice you can see why it'd be bad for the turbo but in reality i dont think it makes much difference and it's a proper group b rally man noise in my opinion :)

At the moment i've got a induction kit fitted with a new 710n Valve (search ebay) and i get a very loud tsssssssssssssssh if thats what your looking for and for not much money thats perfectly reliable.

VAG 1.8T's will not run correctly with a dump to atmosphere DV, they require a recirc valve or will throw a code & run badly.
Forge 007p can be fitted both ways, but will be a little louder mounted on it's side. There is no performance gain over using the OEM 710N valve, but the Forge valve seal rarely fails.

forge state on there website that it must be fit opposite way to bosch one it was the first time I fit the aftermarket one when I had bother by doing a direct replacement of standard one then read what forge stated and it worked mint then the running issues occurred which a lot of people have said is its because it was basically a cheap dv

You can fit the 007 either way. I've done VCDS logs with it in both positions & there was no difference in boost readings.
Cheap ebay jobbies often have poor seals as I found to my cost once in the past. Buy cheap, buy twice!

Forge used to state that the 007 could be mounted on it's side as opposed to upright like the OEM DV if more noise was required.
If they are now saying it must be mounted on it's side only to work properly they must have changed the design.

Ok I realise now that you have a BOV & not a Forge 007p which is a recirc valve & can be fitted up or side ways.
I strongly advise you to get a recirc valve fitted VAG 1.8T's do not like BOV's, & will throw codes & run like sh*t.
