upfront on the front dash speaker, there's like a little button. anyone know more?
If its what I think you are referring to it is a sensor that detects sunlight in the car and helps the heating / air con work.
really. well i never knew that.
I always thought the climate control worked off of the outside temp sensor? and the sensor on top of the dash was for the dashboard display to dim when it's low light outside?
I always thought it was something to do with the alarm. Either a infrared movement sensor or a sensor for the key remote.
Yeah, think its the RF antenna for the alarm.
The instrument dimming sensor is within the speedo dial.
I just took my whole dash out, the Haynes described it as a light sensor.
Just to check? Blimey, that's dedication! lol
Haha, yes, of course!
Is it the item circled in the picture?
If so its the sunlight sensor, along with the outside temperature and the sun sensor the system calculates the correct temperature to issue from the climate system.
Its to combat the greenhouse effect caused by the glass.
All modern vehicles have them and they are only for cars with climate, not simple air conditioning, I seem to remember its something Saab implemented first.
