Have a read through my build thread and that will give you a stage by stage breakdown of what's required and a rough idea of costs.

It's a bit if a read but if you have any questions I'm happy to help.

As a starter you will need a big turbo kit which will run to £5-7k and you need to ensure you've done the brakes and suspension first.

After stage 2, the whole stage thing is clutching at straws. What do you want from your car is the question? My next ugrade would be larger injectors and a Loba 400 turbo,

Is that it ? No need to forge it ? Any recommendation on turbo ? Also what injectors and who to map ?

No need for forged internals up to around 440lbs torque.

Loba is good for around 400-440bhp

GTX2876 is good for around 440-480bhp and anything else you need a lot of work and you'll see anywhere up to 500bhp+.

Mapping....I used Revo but APR and GIAC also map to this level although with APR you will need their kit,and Rick,Shark and others may do as well.

Have a trawl through my thread and any other BT threads here and be sure to choose someone who knows what they're doing.

    Nicely put.

What its called doesn't matter, but what does matter is choosing the exact spec and what you require now,and in the future,as we all want more!

The Loba is a very good 400+bhp choice, but if you eventually want more,it would be limited, but it will take you as far as you can go without an engine rebuild.

Just to clarify for the OP, there is a LO400 and a LO4xx turbo by Loba - the second one requires injectors and can make upwards of 400 depending on other components. The LO400 is a rework of the std K04 and can just about make 400 but has a better spool than OEM. Depends what you want, power or drivability. Alex, where does the torque peak on your turbo?

For a genuine 400 you need injectors unless you want to run it at lambda 0.95 which isn't a good idea for road engine that you want to last!

Unless you are going to pull it apart, I'd go for the L0400 turbo. It needs a lot of mapping time to get spot on, which we are very capable of doing.

Peak torque on mine is around 4000 rpm if I remember and pretty flat to over 6000.

Depends on where you are in the country for who you'd choose.

You need a good tuner who knows what he's doing as this isn't exactly a plug and play type of job.

If it isn't done properly you can end up with a scrapped engine.

I'm considering going stage 3 next year. However only looking to get it up to 420-430. Is the Loba turbo going to be enough and fairly hassle free to fit? Will I need to upgrade dsg clutch too or only remap it?

The LO4xx would certainly get you that sort of power.

It's a relatively easy fit compared to something like mine but as Rick says it needs careful mapping.

The DSG will need mapping for the extra torque but generally you do not need an uprated clutch pack until you go beyond 440lbs torque

I can supply the turbo, injectors either second hand or get them from Audi/TPS.

The injectors are from the RS4..... Higher flow max than the S3 injectors although some are using Golf R injectors also.

Loba turbos are very well made hybrid type turbos and offer a much higher flow than the stock turbo.
