    God this is getting boring...

Diesels are bad and the only people who want them are the ones bothered with economy or stuck with them due to it being a comapny car... Petrols are brilliant, the S3 is the best car on the road blah, blah, blah

Oh and I misse dout BMW's are drivin by w4nkers, does that paraphrase this thread?

    Quite frankly, ****** to you.
    It's still 200bhp and 410nm of torque.
    0-60 in 7.4 seconds and 145mph.
    It's hardly a sheep in wolf's clothing.
    Put it this way, mate.
Unless the road's very straight, I don't hold much hope of you losing me...

    LOL that...:moa:

    What a load of cobblers!

Are you saying that if you sat in a pub with your mates and told them you were getting a car with a 200 BHP Diesel engine and its an 3 Series Alpina they wouldnt be impressed?

I cant stand beemers, all style over substance IMO, but 410nm of torque is very impressive, any fool can see that...

    Back on track...

I'm currently on my 3rd Audi and I'm picking up an A8 4.2 TDi on Saturday.

Looking forward to a bit cheaper motoring than the W12.

My mondeo has 400nm of torque. Its higher than a petrol engine, but its not the be all. Diesels need the torque because of the engines physics (high torque / low revs)

To married blonde, you summed it up nicely, yeah we can move on now :)

bowfer, i dont race on public roads.
besides, there woud be no competion.

    0-60 = 7.5 seconds lol!

Is it single figure MPG with the W12? Imagine it sounds rather nice :icon_thumright:

What a pair of barstool bores you and 'lol boy' must be.
Giggling away that your cars are the blink of an eye faster to 60mph than the next blokes.
As I said, I doubt either of you would be able to lose me on anything other than the straightest of roads, and I'll go sailing by when you pull into the petrol station.:photo:

To try and bring this make on topic, what will my next Audi be? Probably not an Audi at all actually. My A3 3.2 DSG s-line is just plain boring TBH. Competant but dull.

It would have to me something with rear wheel drive (not 4wd and definitely not FWD) that weighs less than the moon and with a 0-60 time of less than say 6secs (I know it's doesn't tell the whole story but its indicative of a cars performance).

The problem is that the only cars that fit this criteria are either a lot more money that I can afford, cars that suit people twice my age (I'm 30 btw), or BMWs (which I can't stand the image of). Something like a second hand 996 C2 would be good as an everyday car or maybe get something like a Subaru Legacy Outback plus a Radical or an Atom.

Im not into racing OR 0-60 figures Bowfer. And as stated earlier im especially not interested in racing on public roads.

My reaction is only to your (now boring me to death) insults upon the Audi brand.

You droll on, stating your bmw figures, and posting pictures as if they are something to write home about, but clearly (as moisty agrees) they are not.

Some people (quite a lot it seems) dont like bmw, or bmw drivers. Im sure you expect a few on here too, which is why its so obvious that your luring a reaction to your posts. Im just slightly embarrassed to have been drawn in. However that will no longer be the case.

Enjoy your sheep in muttons clothing old man :haha:

:) Seriously though, I've just returned from the U.K. where I 'borrowed' my old boy's 335d M-Sport coupe.

I can honestly say that I have never had som much fun in a car in my life. I think it has to be the fastest thing I have ever driven. From a standstill the thing is like a missile. I had been in it before but my Dad never let it rip. With him out of the car I was able to see what it could do and I was left shocked. I think it has something like 286 hp but I clocked my 0-60 in just under 6 seconds. It just didn't let up all the way through the gears. Dangerous machine. Flying machine. Lovely motor.

Now I understand why he bought it and if that Alpina thing is half as good you will be laughing laughing laughing. Trust me. You'll love your new Beemer.

I agree, the performance of the 335d is fantastic, I have had the pleasure of driving one. I would like to drive the 335i also (twin turbos I think) to see how that compares.

400Nm?! That's just mental!!! Hold on.. how much is that in lb? I get confused how you measure torque these days....

How much is that compared to the 2.0TDI or 3.0TDI

    295lbft, I think.
    2.0tdi is 236lbft.
    3.0tdi is 368lbft.
If the 400nm you refer to is the D3, it's actually 405nm, which is 302lbft.

My soon to be ex Mondeo Titanium X (im gonna miss it actually) is rated at 400Nm & 295 lb ft at a mere 1800rpm. real nice from a 2.2 TDCi

Sounds like your going to have alot of fun in your back roads Bowfer lol. I'd be willing to give you a run for your money thought once i've been GIAC'ed :asskicking:

Sorry, my calculations were a wee bit out.
    405nm is 298lbft.
Alpina change a lot to get the 298lbft though.
    Turbo, injectors, intercooler.
Interestingly, a chipped 320D puts out more than an Alpina.
Superchips say 411nm, which is 303lbft.
Why Alpina go to the bother of changing all those parts, when a simple re-chip would do the same, is strange.
I suspect it's because changing the turbo/injectors/intercooler gives a better spread of power, or power curve, than a simple re-chip.
I'll compare the power curves later.

    Actually, maybe I won't.
Power curves for chipped 320D are easy to find, but can't find power curve for D3 anywhere.
So the mystery as to why Alpina change so many parts remains...

The 335d runs 580 Nm of torque between 1750 and 2250 RPM.

It will make short work of your Alpina pal.
