Just thinking what I should say to the dealer to do to the car, or not to do to it during PDI. So far thinking:

    To Do:

    Euro Spec Plates
Supply AMI cable (Which one? Red?)

    Not To Do:

    No Dealer Stickers

    Anyone got any good suggestions?

Tell them to stick the plates on, not screw
Let you see it before they prep it

Simple..... Give me the keys! Lol

About life shine, my dealer tried to sell me this at full price, then half price, then asked me what I was prepared to pay.
When I picked up the car, it was it the boot for free!

Before picking up the car, I impressed on the dealer I was expecting the AMI cables, but I think most new owners get these for free.

what the hell does the lifeshine do anyway. I fell asleep when the sales manager tried to sell it. ive clean cars to conquers standard and as far as im concerned lifeshine a cheap wax dressed up as something expensive?

It was a very funny conversation with Sam, our salesman about lifeshine. He opened the convo and I told him to take a breath while I listed my detailing kit in the garage, starting with my trusty meggs g220 polisher. He didn't push it after that.

It has turned into a standing joke though, as they slipped a lifeshine brochure into my order paperwork on purpose just to wind me up. They are a great bunch over there :jester:

Lifeshine isnt a bad product, provides decent paint protection, carpet, upholstery protection with a warranty. Its actually not bad stuff and I have it on my current car. The protection kit comes with an autoglym car care kit which is worth a couple of pounds on its own.

You are paying a bg chunk of the money for the dealer to apply it and there is the real question, pay a dealer dealer prices for an extra service, or a detailer lower prices for their main business or do it yourself. If your used to detailing cars to conquers standard I wouldnt bother.

I still havnt decided on either finding a local specialist detailer or trying it myself when the car gets here.

I'd take Lifeshine if applied by a proper detailer but not by the sponge-monkeys the dealers typically use.
Sorry for sounding thick but what is conquers standard?

Euro spec plates are the ones with the GB lettering and EU symbol on them. They mean you don't need a separate GB sticker if you take the car abroad.

I was going to ask a similar question to prepare for my pre-handover meeting.
What about actually selecting your reg number? I gather that's possible.
And is there yet an AMI cable with Lightning connector? If not, should we expect one for free when they do come out?

I think I asked for (and got):

5x AMI cables (3.5mm, USB, micro USB, the 2 Apple ones) - though he had to order one of them in for me
Full tank of fuel (negotiated when ordered though)
Spare rear plate (also asked when ordering, for towing)
    All plates are euro spec
No dealer stickers / markings / badges or whatever applied
Chose registration from the list they had available (asked when ordering again though)

dunno if I spelt it correctly lol. its where cars are judged at eg car shows for basically how clean they - trust me some people go to extremes and spend several hours before a show cleaning a car, even the engine bay

this was a long time ago, over 20 years ago, I don't remember there being detailers then

spent 4 hours+ cleaning my golf gti mk2 to near showroom condition only to be beaten by mr sad git who spent more than that time polishing his engine, let alone the time spent on the car - I didn't do it often, lol

Asked for no branded (or otherwise) numberplate holders, but you have to have the name of the business that printed the plates - it's the law.

Yer, but only in the corner in small text. I don't really want AUDI WAKEFIELD etc in the middle of the plate.

You can ask them, they might have a fixed design for that though. Easiest way is to source some new plates from elsewhere if its something that bothers you. I haven't even noticed mine, not looked to see where it's printed on mine but I think it's pretty discreet.

agreed the idiots who make this stupid rule don't watch football - makes you and your car a great target at away matches as does the number plate

i would even call the minority football fans, just idiots that go to football.
a bit like BMW drivers, not all are idiots, it just seams to attract a higher proportion of idiots for some reason ! :p

No you don't. You must however have the Post Code of the number plate supplier/dealer on the plate!

sorry but think you are barking up the wrong tree here......

The majority of football grounds are in cities/towns which are not in the most affluent of the suburbs of those towns so by default if you park in those places on your way to the ground there is likely to be a higher proportion of "oiks" and not just football "oiks" in those areas, so you car will have a greater risk of being damaged because of location not because of football..... thats why insurance companies use post codes to set premium levels.

In all fairness football is such an expensive spectator support these days all supporters going to matches in new and/or high specced cars are more likely to be targets for vandalism from disgruntled less fortunate parts of the community rather than someone driving a 10 year old ford escort.

I really don't think the text or postcode on your number plate make that much difference, I certainly won't be rushing to change my Wimbledon Audi plates to avoid my car being attacked by Arsenal or Tottenham fans near my home or by supporters of my own club on the odd occassion I drive to Upton Park.

Make sure you get rubber matts FREE or the car doesnt leave the show room, I had to get them to readjust the bonnet catches as they had to SLAM the bonnet to latch it. Boy o boy was I annoyed and fell out with sales rep and workshop manager for their stupidity and bad work practices so make sure you are happy with all doors, bonnet and tailgate closing

I asked my Salesman for rubber matts on order and he told me that they did not exist yet for this model (i.e. not on their system)

Can anyone verify this for me?

I have a full set of rubber matts from the dealer, the car did not leave the showroom without them.

As I have a personal plate the dealer has to make up a set and not use one of their standard sets. The dealers name and postcode are on the plates but in very small lettering and I always have them 'stuck' directly to the car without any number plate surrounds. As all my eight A3s have come been supplied through the same Sales Manager at the same dealers he knows what I want. I also don't have the dealer sticker in the back window.

Personal plates and other plates are printed up exactly the same!

My dealer said they don't put stickers in the back window when I asked for it not to be there, not sure I believe him though. I had an 8P as a company car that I took for a service there once and it came back with an extra Audi Nottingham sticker...

Full tank of fuel please - "consider that a deal breaker". Always a good one to ask as your pen hovers over the paperwork... oh and get a quote for GAP and then show that to the sales rep - usually kills that conversation dead as Audi GAP is silly money.
