What oil????

Hi I know this must of been asked a thousand and one times but iam still quite new to the forum and havent mastered navigating it well yet.

Anyway, Iam going to oil service my car and need to know what spec oil is recommended, Iam not looking for top label stuff just decent quality trade oil that would be suitable for my 1997 1.9 TDi (110 BHP) A4

As long as its 5w40 or 5w30 fully synth i wouldnt see a problem i use 5w40's total quartz but thats cause i get it through work on the cheap well free cheap lol

Thanks for the fast replies guys, I have about 3 gallons of Magnatec 5/40 in the garage, also, how much does it take roughly, 4/5 litres?

Surley this is just a recommendation and any 5/30 or 40 should work???

What is it you use yourself mate?

my passat was run on 505.01 till 60k then 507 till 186k

my a6 is using 507 spec motaquip

I have also checked on my nearest trade outlet and they recommend a 10/40 semi synthetic for my engine, as its not a PD engine maybe this was the reason?
