What made you chose?

What made you chose the car you re driving over other types?

I do not refer to brand or model, but to type of car ... Hatchback, sedan, suv, coupe.

3 door hatchback. The criteria where:

1. Rear seats at least comfortable enough for the kids
2. Sufficient luggage space for school bags, the odd suitcase, a weekly shop
3. Enough performance to be fun...
4. ...without costing the Earth to run
5. Understated good looks - not looking like a chav-chariot
6. Must fit in my garage, which was built in the late 60's and isn't very big
