Hi there, I've heard that there are stage 1, stage 2 and stage 3 remaps available and would like to find out what actually is the difference.

    I have the 163BHP 1.8t engine which I remaped to 195BHP.

After the remap I added a Milltek Exhaust System, Carbonio Induction Kit and Forge DV. Would I benefit from another remap?

Hi mate, has your remap to 195bhp made a huge difference to your cars performance cause ive been thinging of going down that route with my 163bhp in the future.

This info is from the Revo website mate....

Revo Stage 2 software has been developed to attain the best possible performance available from cars with simple aftermarket performance modifications. Stage 2 has been developed to use a 4 bar fuel pressure regulator, a quality aftermarket performance exhaust system and a good air intake induction kit or filter. Furthermore, our Stage 2 software can be used with a de-cat exhaust for race or track use. The tuning style is more aggressive than the basic Revo performance software, and will typically yield 10-15% more useable power. Working in conjunction with an SPS 3, Revo's Stage 2 software can be finely tuned to each customer's preference of drivability.
    Required Hardware

    • A 4 bar fuel pressure regulator
    • A quality aftermarket performance exhaust system
    • A good air intake induction system or filter
Revo Stage 3 software has been specifically developed to compliment proven packages with more extensive engine modifications. It allows the user to choose their preferred turbo charger upgrade and their preferred exhaust and air intake upgrade. Revo Stage 3 tuning is very aggressive and depending on the turbocharger you choose can yield up to a 200% gain over standard horsepower figures. For this software to run efficiently and reliably, a strict hardware build list must be adhered to. Furthermore, an SPS 3 is highly recommended to guarantee optimal performance gains. Contact your nearest Revo dealer for further information.
    Garrett GT28RS Turbocharger

Standard VAG 150/180bhp engines modified with a GT28RS turbo upgrade, intercooler and race fuel can expect to see up to 400bhp.

The difference is quite simply more boost, with the fuelling and timing tweaked to match.

They give different "stages" because stage 1 will happily work on a stock engine, whereas stage 2> generally requires additional modifications to run the additional boost, such as an upgraded exhaust or intercooler or larger fuel injectors.

I bet if you had an MRC custom remap (stage 2) you'd be very surprised.
I had a map already on the blue one then put the turbo back milltek on (100cel cat) and a few other bits and it was more responsive, especially low down then decided to have another map put on it to get the most out what I had added but this time a custom map and I couldnt beleive the difference again even though I gained about 20bhp it felt like I had a upgraded turbo!

Custom maps cost more (sometimes alot more) than a generic but trust me its well worth it :icon_thumright:

I think stage 2 consists of full exhaust system and another remap. I was going to do it to mine but for the price I didn't see it as a worthwhile waste of money

I must be half way there then. For next year under the advice of Badger5 i will be fitting a new front mount custom intercooler so i still keep the oem look to the front end, fueling uprated and i maybe some uprated injector's.

LOL. Well i'm down at Badge5 with the A3/S3 lot in November for a RR day so i will find out what the car is pushing. My main goal is that once he log's the car using VAG com that the car show's a nice clean curve and that all is well..

Thank you all gentlemen - 300BHP? Well, I'm looking at at a GT30 next summer so hopefully a tad more than 300 lol!

Price wise depends on quality of parts, and everything I get is the best so I dare do not think about ££££!!!!!

Charlie at Milltek is helping me with the requirements of what I need, the Race Manifold is on order from Full Race in the USA, I'm having a FMIC Universally made (as Forge's A4 B6 Saloon version will not fit), Milltek are making me a one off De-Cat, and I think when all the fuelling and associated parts are through the car will end up with Doug @ MRC for a custom remap. My car may be off the road for a month or so!!!

Thanks mate! Funnily enough I've looked into the Hardtops in Germany but they don't look very very nice plus I was concerned that I would still have the weight of the folded roof in the boot - they are out there, but it takes a bit of an odd bod to have one lol!!!

I've been told that with the modifications I'm blueprinting that I could acheivejust over 400BHP although I'm really after something around 350 which can be used throughout the rev range and give me a "stand out" 1.8T Convertible and be reliable - I'm getting there slowly, it's just been a case of information gathering and networking to get in touch with the right people. Charlie at Milltek has been great, he helped out with his brothers TT (the JBS Tim Orpen 400-500BHP GT30) and tis is brilliant. He's using this as a daily driver as well!!!

Oh, nearly forgot, uprated clutch as well to help transmit it all!!!

Sorry mate forgot to answer your question!

Yes - DO IT!!! It's the best bangs for bucks I did on the car by far - the difference is fantastic and makes you feel like your driving another faster car altogether - and you don't even have to tell the missis that you've spent £300 having it done because she can't see it (wink wink).

100% do it - I will map every car I own!

Do the remap first!! Honestly, it will give your car more of a "q" - "sleeper" feel - you won't regret it!! One word of advice I will give you though is to ensure you use someone good. 99% are. But there are still a few rouges out there who don't really know what they are doing. They will need to health check your car first to make sure it is all good. If they don't suggest doing this walk away!
