Got the train up to Dundee yesterday to see my parents and within 2 miles off driving we've followed a 14 plate S3 in phantom, a new 14 plate Golf R in red and then another 14 plate A3 184Q.

We we haven't even been to Aberdeen yet!

only the second ever S3 I've seen on the road and I've never seen a golf R before.

I heard there was (I think) a 22% increase in new car sales for this launch. Recently been into the local audi garage to get the car serviced and when I asked the service guy how many cars they had going out for the 14 plate he said they had around 700 cars.

Welcome to aberdeen home of BMW's, audi's, buses and seagulls!!

This was just going by what a guy at the service desk said. So don't hold that as fact. But could believe that. As takes around 3 weeks to get a service booked in and around 6-8 for a Saturday morning slot

Scotland is a lucrative new market we're looking to start supplying product into. The high value products they buy will more than make up for the cost of transport to get up there.

Yep see you the other side once you have successfully negotiated a currency union with the rest of us and EU membership.

Agree totally about how beautiful Scotland is. Didn't see a ton of money in Glasgow the other week or many new cars?? Aberdeen of course is a totally different story.

I could type a massive post to give me thoughts but I won't lol especially on ASN.
I don't see it been a win win situation for anyone though. I think it's all politics and no matter where in the world you are they are known for talking nothing but BS.

IIRC Aberdeen Audi delivered 120 cars on 1st and c.60 on the 2nd March. Will prices go up when using the Euro?! :eyebrows:

    We'll never get independence.
Even if the yes does happen (which I think unlikely), we'll have to give so much away to structure things the way the SNP have proposed that it will not truly be independence.

In Aberdeen and the shire there is a huge amount of disposable income (despite the high house prices), there are loads of really nice and very exotic cars up this way. Audi's, VW's and Merc's are around every corner and not even close to being a rarity.

A mate just changed his S5 for something a little sharper at Aberdeen Audi, and they said they were the busiest Audi dealership in Europe. No clue if true or not, but a lot of Audi's on the East Coast from Edinburgh upwards.

Well ,to date I hear the biggest voice against comes from our friends south of the border.Very interesting how the Laurel and Hardey circus ,sorry Cameron and Co Gov came to Scotland to do a bit of scaremongering,(first time in forty odd years I believe that they could be bothered to meet here)it appears that they must have more to loose.Since I pay my tax to Cameron's crew, its up to him to defend his stance, not bottling it to someone else.
Coming across with 'we love Scotland ' and dictating to us don't go ,then swiftly scuttling south, smacks as one of the most patronising stunts I have seen in a long time.
There are many small countries, many a lot less affluent than Scotland who do just fine.
Billions have been wasted since the 70s in idiotic projects.
Independence then would have seen Scotland even better off.

Really, rock on then, our other option is to be continually bled dry by Westminster and have Scotland's assets squandard.
Now,I wonder if anyone has the builders phone number who build that wall? Hadrian somebody? Now here's a Guy with vision.!

Aren't the Shetland Islanders now saying most of the oil assets belong to them, and would want a referendum of their own in the event of a yes vote?

Hope you are right, how many Eckies will we get to the pound, President Salmon and Chancellor Sturgeon are two dodgy sounding brands I'd be quite happy stacking with the wife's butterbeans and leaving at the back of the cupboard.

You have to look further.Alex Salmonds SNP completley obliterated all other parties in Scotland.
What's wrong with taking charge of our own country?
All we ever get is Labour and the Cons continually blaming each other for their mistakes.
    Nothing will ever change.
Remember that when your spine hits your next pothole ( shouldn't have to wait long)
Independace for Scotland in the 70s could have us in Scotland driving on beautifully surfaced roads, instead of some stupid money pit idea we have had to suffer from Westminster.
Finish of rant, phew, I feel much better!!

Well I live in Dundee and its true about Aberdeen doing very well. The car share pooI parking area gets bigger very week. I see Audi, quite a few R8 and RS series, Merc, BMW, quite a few Astons and the odd Ferrari regularly heading up the A90.

But the cars (at least second hand) are more expensive here. Just purchased a 4 month old A3 saloon, all Scottish dealers could not get anywhere near what I paid from a dealer in England. They said we would love your money but we can't match the price, I think they assumed I'd cave in. The English dealers as well as a great price gave me a great trade in price and delivered new and picked up old car, fantastic service. The delivery guy delivers from different manufacturers and he said he is up to Aberdeen at least once a week. He was saying the Saudi's are buying many seriously expensive cars and they go straight onto the ships.

Still nice that I've only spotted one other saloon on the roads here, still feel quite exclusive :)

I guess at least in Dundee house prices are very low compared to southern England, so if you can get a half decent job there is more cash to splash.

As a very good friend from Scotland said to me the other day - it's one thing having Salmond and his crew deciding what kids eat at school and where to build roads......totally different thing letting him run a country.

If he succeeds with his dreams then everyone will have an opportunity to have have a new car etc - if he fails potentially it will be a much bleaker future.

    Rose tinted glasses...

Scotland has taken out more than its put in for years. Cameron gave you your referendum did he not?

Also its very much in the conservatives favour for Scotland to leave along with the vast share of the labour vote.

Its been made very clear you wont be using the pound. No EU membership = no Euro... a new currency will be worthless.. good luck!

I thought there's only whiskey and shortbread over there!.....

Hehe joking aside, I do like the scenery and enjoyed my driving every time I'm up there!

As for independence, I hope we stay together... But then again I don't have a vote.
