Just down next to the head on the heater hose side.

Separated the two wires from the coilpack loom and now it just sits there.

Why have you both put this back? I know it holds the boost for a tiny second between first and second - but what is your reasoning? Especially Ian with his massive blower.

It just makes sense, Audi wouldn't have fitted it for no reason, and if you log boost you can see it spike when you come off the throttle without the N249 fitted.
I feel the car is much smoother with it fitted.

It acts like a cut off device in an accident in cable operated throttle.

So i take it use both think that the N249 delete is a bad idea then?
I was thinking of getting it done so thats why im asking.

It allows the ECU to open the DV almost instantly as you come off the throttle. In my experience it makes the car smoother between gears, and overall nicer to drive.

Personally I wouldn't recommend it, but Im no expert.

I put the solenoid back into it's plug because i get annoyed with errors when i scan (i can't get my TunerPro to install properly... something about .dll's or something so I can't delete it via software) - i still have the actual system deleted :)

Its done mostly to eliminate pipes and tidy up the engine bay... you don't lose anything as such from doing it but it subjectively has an effect on part throttle driving...

Should note that the N249 is mostly there as a 'protection' system to allow the ECU to cut boost quickly if it needs to... it has other ways to do this of course so its not like its the end of the world...

There is no real reason to do the N249 delete if its not causing an issue (leaks etc) but if you want to clean up the engine bay then its not something you will miss either...

...just make sure the valve itself is still electrically plugged in :)

Finally caught the elusive barbel, straight after fireworks. And err ****** in the river...

I've spent 40 mins trying to get a photo small enough to upload... So I give up...

Screenshot, email with resize, save with es explorers. Blah. Blah blah... With too big or the file extension doesn't match the content. I'm going back to my Heineken now.

grrrr... I don't do "fisherman stories" but that is a Barbel and they are still currently rarer than Audi 8L S3's - they usually take 5 days to bait a swim and grow the confidence to take the pellets. only once have I caught one on the Avon in less than 4/5 days but I am no expert and only fish once a year a bit like doing a poo or playing golf. (clearly I don't fish 24 hours a day for 4 days - I still have a bit of a life - I am on page 86 in Dan Browns Origin) :)

I will upload the pike, bream and chub later on from this holiday, and see if I can find the big barbel from a couple of year ago.

I repaired my door blade (again). I bought a new one about five years ago. Fitted it. Perfect. Then, last year it started flapping about. So I removed it and glued the nylon inserts into the blade with Epoxy resin. Lasted for about a year and started flapping about again the other day when I closed the door. I popped to Audi to get a new one and the price in 5 years has jumped up from £140 to £262! I nearly fell on the floor! I figured I'll try another repair attempt, so this time I put in a few small countersunk brass woodscrews to help secure the nylon insert into the door blade. It's worked an absolute treat!! I also took the opportunity to clean the dirt and grime out between the metal door and plastic door blade. Let's hope my repair lasts 5 more years! Oh, and then a window cleaner put a leaflet through the door to advertise his services and he started talking to me about the S3. It turns out he'd like to buy it if I sell it! I don't think I'll ever sell it! I love it too much!

changed brake light switch as the old one "adjusted" for the MOT failed again on the first drive since the MOT yesterday, joined up the boost gauge as the previous pipe had melted during the hot MOT emissions passing and joined up the N75 to start getting some logs after driving 10 miles or so with a different map. I am still scared the intercooler hoses will pop off so I will wear my old trousers and keep the tools scattered about. just about to get in and noticed a flat tyre - so got that "sort of" repaired the only leak as a tiny bubble from the valve - seems unlikely to be the fault. so ready to go out and see if it blows up, catches fire, breaks down etc.

serviced the gearbox again, didnt take any pics this time as its the same exact same procedure from a year ago, i know it doesnt require servicing in such sort intervals but audi auto's have a history of failing so i'll rather spend a thousand a year on gasket filter and oil for my assurance than wait until something goes horribly wrong and i need to get another transmission again.

not a fun job to be honest

also the clocks hit the 200k mark, it's only the clocks thats got that mileage unfortunately, add another 150k on top of that for a true estimate.

    200k.jpg
also found this on youtube (not sure if it was posted on here already)

Today I tested the new drop controller I have been building...

    Started with bags of bits....

Using the circuit diagram on http://www.dropcontroller.com I used veroboard to mount the components... the guides on the website use perf board or a breadboard which I didn't fancy using..

Got the power and valve trigger components in place
    [IMG]

Added the Arduino Nano control board...

Flashed the Nano with the control program
    [IMG]

...and then hooked it up to the windows control software to test it out...

Just waiting on the Bluetooth module so that I can use the Android app on it...

Should hopefully help improve my drop pics :)

you have to love the Arduino and little c routines, I was trying to encourage my son to look at this - but no...just another slightly see through box on the dvd shelf. I got one to try and reprogram those little led message fans with swear words.
