What have you done today?

Changed my rear light that was cracked and got my 4wd finally working today
And yesterday drove from Manchester to badger 5 for a stage 1 remap only to discover it's already been remapped by previous owner

I changed the melted steering rack boot. Easy job with the engine out.
Guess it needs heat shield.

No way, what power was it making?

Refurbed my headlights. Auto glym kit for £20. Well worth it.

This didn't happen today as such, but after my huge off at Castle Combe in my beloved S3, I though I had bent 2 of the wheels, such was the force of the impact. But I took the wheels down to my local alloy shop to get the tyres removed last week, and the guy told me the alloys was good, all straight, and totally usable! - Result.

Went straight to my local powdercoaters, and dropped them off.

Spent the day driving a Beetle while the Golf was with Huntingdon VW for an MOT, rear brakes, brake fluid change and air con service. Better than I expected, although it was a 2.0 TDi with 110ps (and a 5 speed manual). Nothing about that engine makes any sense - the 2016 Golf gets 110ps from a 1.6 TDi (with a 6 speed) while also getting 20mpg more, and 150ps from the 2.0 TDi (also a 6 speed). It also had sat nav but no cruise control
IMG 0563

On the plus side, the Golf sailed through its 4th MOT at 159108 miles with 0 advisories. The A6 turns up in a few weeks so that's the last MOT I'll need to deal with for at least 3 years.

In the last week in short

Finally found a wing in the same colour to replace my dented one.

Took 6 months to find one local enough to be cost effective. Looks miles better already.

Also freed off the rear calipers again as handbrake was sticking on.

Saturday -Rebuild rear calipers as Seals had Died both sides.

Final oil change after running in new bottom end bearings and new rod.

Sump has **** most of its thread so plenty of thread tape and some Prayer later and shes sealed.
Been looking for a reason to splash out on a baffled one from forge so I guess this is it.

Got my car remapped today by #badger5. Thanks Bill!

Amazing difference. Journey home was

See my main thread for the printout dude - 324 HP and 303 LB/FT. Remember this is a non-ported small port, so I'm well happy with that!

Driveability is awesome. As always, Bill has done ASN proud....

Fixed my rear screen washer with the repair kit available from audi (thanks to Mike from the parts request) Easy job to do

Part number: 8L0998711

6052c223327ac765dfb8cf2ae299f766.jpg

Also found another leak, common leak point where the pipe for the rear washer seperates inside the electrical trunking in the engine bay

I was surprised at how powerful it is when working properly

I need to do this. I found under the car there is some random piping that water is coming out of. I think it's related to washer water

I found one of these .... Stripped one of the last bots I was loosening though. Grrrrr

Got my new DEPO facelift headlights, finally time to get away from my old worn headlights.

These:
20160707 150250

Some cutting in the wing.. not a very fun job..
20160707 163252

And after some hours(actually minutes) punching them in place.. they actually fit!
