I've been thinking about doing the exact same thing! This might of given me the kick up the **** to get cracked on with it

You need an allen key (5mm iirc) and an M12 (I think) spline socket to undo the steering wheel, just disconnect the battery for a good half an hour before hand.
Was this a straight swap?

i change rear subframe and some other things

Surprised you didn't go for TT spec subframe bushes, they are solid I think, the R32 boys do it as an upgrade.

you wouldn"t be surprised if you saw whatkinda roads are in my country, beside I don"t like too hard suspension. I always said the car needs to breathe so no powerflex bushes or uniball or some similar things for everyday car use - these things are for the race car use

Apart from posting on here for the first time in some weeks, I found out that hitting a pigeon at "xx" mph on a country road results in a loud bang and a lot of feathers. Luckily it caught the corner of the screen so no damage done (to the car)! Not so sure about the pigeon.

With the help from a very good mate (he did most of the work, to be fair),

1. Fitted Eibach Pro-kit springs and Bilstein OE spec dampers,

2. New front anti-roll bar bushes,

3. New antenna base and antenna - radio now works :)

4. New water bottle. An a-hole of a job to swap.

Car drives great, way better than standard. Much smoother and more composed than on the original 97k old stuff. Sits nicely too, not too low, just right.

Eibach's from Damien at DPM. Great service and quick delivery.

Why was every part of the above work a fight to achieve? The only easy part was the rear shocks and springs. Seems to be the S3 way.

Gave Alex her first polish. Front bumper needs a re spray like

How did you get the radiator? I have been trying to for ages but they are out of stock!
I remember Prawn saying they sell them on Ebay, and put one up for highest bid every so often. Last week I randomly checked, there was one there, so I bid on it :)

ahhh that's better! pulled the whole dash apart and got the HVAC controls out by pushing the pressure clips down from the back

Thumb IMG 2496 1024 - ugly and rubbed out
Thumb IMG 2497 1024 - all fixed!

A friend hit one once in an Astra at well over 100mph. It went through the rad (shredded) and then ****** on the red hot exhaust manifold. We pulled into a petrol station and half a ****** bird fell out of the car, smoking. I shouldn't have laughed but it was all I could do. At least it was a quick death I guess.

Had my wheels refurbished. They look just gloss black but when you get up close they're awesome. VW black magic paint with a hologram flake added into the laquer.

Brilliant job! I hate seeing the old worn buttons on my centre console :(

it's easy once you know how to take it out! will write up a how to soon. you should be able to source a replacement unit with fresh looking buttons easily being in the UK. you guys have so many parts going everywhere! LOL

I've been keeping my eyes out for quite a while, they go for a lot of money when they do come out though, most are very worn :(

got my wheels refurbed. they're only cheapy reps but do the job well enough. they're painted metallic black magic (vw colour) with a light dusting of hologram flake in the laquer, can't really do the paint job justice with a photo!

Well, the smoking wasn't good for it anyway.

Finally managed to get a day off work to do my spring clay and wax routine last week. Hooray! Just in time for the pilgrimage to Le Mans in a couple of weeks. Double hooray!

Finally got my catch can installed. Now I just need to get around to fitting the massive pile of parts that are left...

charge pipe to DV valve hose popped off yesterday whilst on full boost getting past a white van up a hill in 2nd - just limped past; drove home in NA mode. Pushed it back on last night with an extra jubilee clip.

Start the car this morning with a sound that, to me, sounds like a failing DMF - luckily I bought one on Monday...

Refurb'd a set of LCR brembo's. new seals, dust covers, SS bleed nipples.

Which reminds me, I must complete the same job on mine. One calliper ready, the other one's been on the bench awaiting new seals and dust boots for the last 6 months!!

Having said that, I did at least empty my catch can this eve.

I have cleaned, clay barred and put protection on. Also adjusted the intercooler so I cold fit my grills back in.
