What have you done today?

I have the same heat shield rattle

Take it off mate. Took me 10 mins. Only had 2 of the 8mm bolts still attached and they just snapped off when I put the ratchet on them. Then it was just a case of easing the corners off what was left of the rust mounts/brackets with a large flat blade screwdriver. Wish I'd done it sooner as it was so easy. Just jacked one side up and popped an axle stand in.

New exhaust done! However, in cabin drone is torturous :S sound deadening the spare wheel well and the old muffler housing/heatshield beneath the car, a lot, with several different products :I fingers crossed. IMG 0729IMG 0732IMG 0735

My badger5 tip has arrived! Will be fitting it on the weekend temptation to do it on a night but have been caught in the rain and dark too often :)

What's happening/what's happened to the Golf?

I suppose the A2 will be easier for you to get in & out of these days Paul... Do you have the tissue box and straw hat on the rear shelf too?

Nice colour maty. Have a look for a polo 9n rear wiper to tidy the back up more and some mk4 aero wiper arms and blades. Oh and bin that split-r valve. They're not good for these engines at all.

Maty where did you get the velocity stack from?

from here man, Audi TT 225 High-Flow Intake System. Also quick q whilst there are people in here, I removed the insulation from under my bonnet and the rubber sealer from around the scuttle at the bottom of the window, is this really a worth while mod? Air flow, cooler air etc, its made my pod, dv and turbo a **** load louder :S

Changed the front drop links for some meyle ones, as the n/s was knocking again, so that's everything replaced on the front now, new shocks top mounts and bearings, arb bushes, new pas rack, tie rod ends, ball-joints and wishbone rear bush for solid ones and now these. You change one thing and it shows a weakness in the next :)

Today I finished this little lot off for Bill to weld together :)

...although I did try picking up the bit I had just tacked together by grabbing the hot bit melting my glove to my thumb :0

Also got the A2 on a ramp for a quick look over... found the exhaust heatshielding hanging off which would be the rattle I was getting (other than the dervelicious 3 pot up front of course lol)... so sorted that out...

20140427_171420.jpg

Cleaned off the back of the engine as the oil drain has a habit of coming loose so tweaked that a little tighter and will see if thats sorted it...
20140427_171710.jpg

...slightly smaller turbo than the S3 has ;)
20140427_171715.jpg

Opened the bonnet (this is one of the reasons I like the A2... super quirky lol)
20140427_174418.jpg

..and check up top too tightening clips and a loose boost pipe bracket...
20140427_174424.jpg

...and painted something on her too :D

Fixed a few niggles on the car, including my pesky indicator (which turned out to be a loose connection. Tightened a few boost hoses and found one of the pipes with an odd angle! Fixed it but my headlights are broken! Someone hit my car and broke the bumper aswel as the light :(

New rad hoses! Used a 7 piece Forge kit I got off eBay, all hoses were a good fit but one of the lower hoses come from the oil filter was touching the shifter thingy magigy on top of the box so I tie wrapped it up out of the way a bit. If the tie wrap breaks or goes brittle quickly I will have to make a bracket up

I gave my car a quick wash today with the intention on giving it a quick polish afterwards, but there was too much pollen flying about in the air and sticking to the car I gave up! lol Aaaargh!

Went Santa pod and my fastest 1/4 mile was 14.61, no idea if thats about right or not for a std car though.

Discovered my front anti roll bar has moved sideways in it's mounts, and the drop link thread where it goes through the arb is scoring the pancake pipe :( I'm thinking one or both of the plastic sleeves on the arb has cracked and is allowing the arb to move sideways, would a jubilee clip on the bar next to the bush either end sort it, thoughts anyone?

Tell me about it, me and the mrs cars are absolutely covered in the stuff, PITA!

On another note, today I changed the rocker cover gasket and plugs for NGK BKR7EIX, was supposed to be a quick job until the old crackle effect paint on the rocker cover (done by previous owner) was coming off in chunks, so spent 2 hours scraping off that lot and re-painting it satin black, all back together now, haven't driven it yet, hopefully it's all good.

Today I mostly fitted this little lot to the A2...
20140503_092258.jpg

...and tried one of my Avus wheels as 17's would give me more tyre choice...
20140503_123549.jpg

...then this happened...
20140503_133733.jpg

...so I painted something to get over it :)

Just got home from work, S3 parked outside ready for the Badger5 RR day, then I spotted that the roof has been bombed by some pesky bird! God dammit!!

Worst! I had that happen the day after I had my car machine polished. Stupid birds. It should be legal to shoot seagulls

Took off my rocker cover expecting to find this
byqyzy9u.jpg

But actually found this
ezebasab.jpg

Looks like it was rebuilt about a week ago lol now to find why it was tapping

Looked at selling body parts to fund the purchase of a S3 8P...

Changed gearbox oil. Easy enough apart from the ratchet/socket got stuck and took an age to get off lol! All fine in the end.

Gave it a quick wash afterwards.

Measured BHP and torque on the Liquid: BHP 260, torque 270. Seems pretty good, but ideally I'd like to get Bill to work his magic on it. I'm a little uneasy at not knowing who did the remap.

I'm assuming this thread isn't entirely for car stuff, so I'll keep filling it with random other crap I've done recently instead

Rode bike last week. had fun, then, last night, it happened again!

Benny what wrap did you use for the pillars? Also how hard are they todo?

Also I got my black rings of ebay. £10 and they have been spot on.

I'm pretty sure it's 4d carbon wrap I got it off eBay last year and never used it until yesterday! And it was easyish too use it was my first time wrapping anything the passenger side is better as I had an idea of what too do

Cheers mate. You follow any guides on best fitting practice?
