I bought a new geniune audi gear knob off ebay for my A3 1.8T (99). It doesn't fit-

The part number is 8L0 711 141 AH

Can anyone with ETKA or similar tell me what car this is supposed to fit?

    Thanks.

When you say doesn't fit, is it just around the base or is it actually the top going on the shaft?

I'll have a look on ETKA if I can find my other laptop...

It's the plastic connector part that is different than the one fitted to the car already (quite a bit fatter). It fits the metal gear shaft ok but the gator and it's plastic fittings are designed for a gear stick with a narrower plastic fitting.

Yep think you've got the same problem I had, the pre and post facelift cars are different both how they fit into the trim and the tops. I managed to use the old leather gaiter with the new top, I take it you just have the new top without the fitting to go with it? if so you may be buggered. I think I was the reason VAGParts removed the one I bought from there site as they couldn't explain why it wouldn't fit until I told them.
