Well fitting the welly cooler today and s3dave did the brackets solid as the road got pic post up soon as I get time.

Set of and there seems to be no differance as my 3 intercoolers the IAT s seen n to be higher now and there's no difference in performance either spool wise nowt don't understand why all the fuse I'm gutted.

Are the outside temps the same for both coolers for testing the iats?

Ye mate I ran the 3 intercollers with 50mm inlet and outlets for a year and the hightest temp ever got was 40 stud in traffic for ages and this one after 5 mins or less was at 23 and up find this realy wierd as it should realy be the other way around

What the hell are you expecting. Fmic don't just give you more power instantly.

As for the temps this needs to be compared back to back with the same conditions and temperatures.
You are using 3 intercoolers, with varying pipe work sizes, hardly the best application is it with the amount of flow restriction and pressure differences throughout the system.

The differences you will notice is when it is tuned to suit the setup. Have you even had the car mapped yet?

You're hardly in a position to compare products and mods with an unfinished car and map.

Mouth I no what u mean and don't expect any differances realy apart from thinking the lag would of been quit bad with the amount it had to travel compared to now.

As for temps even on a standered map there must be lower than the 3 intercoolers shorly

I am still assuming you haven't got it mapped yet?

As said... FMIC's in any form aren't bolt on power... if you had a fairly effective set up on the level of tune you are at now then you won't see any gains as such changing to the 'Welly Cooler'... ultimately flow will be improved over the setup you have so less pumping losses and it will be more capable when you finally get around to having you engine mapped with the hybrid...

cheers tuffty wait to get rods so I'm not mapping twice and I no it's not bolt on power like just the spool part of it might of changed but not fuse at least I no it flowing better now

IMO i think the standard SMICs are fine up to stage 2, on the s3s anyway.

I beg to differ.... having logged them extensively prior to developing the AH V1 they heat soak quickly and recovery is rubbish... they work once or twice tops then they have had it...

While the AH V1 didn't work out so well on the GT30 it was night and day different when I was running a stage 1 K04...

But, is that on dynos? i have found that on the road it is sooo much different. Alot of my friends and 1.8ts, some with FMICs some without, there is no difference between any of them on the road. For example, i have 2 friends with 2 s3s with pretty much indentical tuning, both had FMICs, one of them went back to the standard SMICs and has noticed no difference what so ever and is still neck and neck with the other s3. (worth noting these and stage 2 s3s, not BT)

.... to quote from the FMIC I started in the stickies...

This was done on the road... the lower IAT's was a given but it was the recovery that was the killer... once hot the SMIC's would not drop much below 50 degs while using the FMIC it would recover to around 8deg above ambient...

Well those figures speak for themselves, im just going by personal experiences. None of what I said in my previous post was logged, just going on how the cars feel/go like side by side. How did yours feel after the first initial ragging? Could you feel the difference?

I took the trip the AH to fit the FMIC and drove up the A48 after picking up Mark... on the drive back the difference was night and day... over taking was a joy... consistently felt the power was there... on the way up you could feel it going off...

To be honest I noticed more of a gain from fitting the toyo cooler than fitting xs power exhaust, downpipe and sports cat. I found that after fitment power remained constant and, there was a little more lag, but found it came in, it was stronger. But all these mods are only components to a system which will need to be fined tuned to make the most of it.

Amen Sportstractor.. I felt a hguge difference in the car when fitting it (i did N249 bypass at same time) but it was all tooo short lived... as i got used to the change.. and now im chasing more power :p

given you aint mapped, aint running high boost, you are expecting something which simply will not happen.
you dont know pressure drops before or after, but given the low boost from unmapped yet, the gains are yet to be realised

once its mapped and you see the temps not rise, all will be revealed.. uber cool, sustained power

time to crack on and finish the rest now then yea?

    20psi is plenty..
the welly cooler is capable of flowing and cooling way in excess of that which your turbo will flow.

none of the ones I have seen, done, or fitted have ever run more than 10'c over ambient, even on my dyno
