Hi chaps,

tried searching for the above but didnt see posts that gave a consistent reply. My water pump has gone and need to have it change (heating up to 120c in minutes of driving. Chap at an audi specialist says need to change bot belt and pump, that seems like standard practice. How much does it cost? the specialist quated £700.00, i though this seems a bit expensive? will check with audi on monday but though you guys could help in the mean while.

Cheers.

£700????!!!!!

Mine was £250 at an independant.

Is he putting a 24c carrot gold water pump in or something!

i just been quoted 450 by 4 rings in dartford, thats everything, pullys tentioners the lot

Think mine was £300 from Audi but don't go to them as they say they will fit the water pump with metal impeller and they put in the rubbish plastic one!!!!

****** HELL £700 DONT GO BACK THERE AGAIN £400, FINCHLEY ROAD AUDI AND ALL ANCILARIES INC,:s3addict: PUMP ,TENSIONERS,ETC

**** me with a brick, you guys pay stupid prices, had a service, cambelt with tensioner and water pump fitted for less then £200 :).

Thanks Guys.

I thought that these dudes were trying to mug me off. Not happy, am going to see the boss tomorrow, will let you know the full address of this chump once Ive spoken to him so everyone else can avoid them. What a bunch of w***k*rs.

Thanks for the infor again.

I was gonna say £200 sounds very cheap.... i've just done my own,,, got all my parts from GSF.... belt , pump and tensioner and ancillory belt came in at around £170 then factor in an oil change and some G12 coolant.... might aswell do those while the cars in the air you can quite easily go over £200 in parts to do the job properly..... my car had it's last belt done at 69000 miles by an independentt according to the service records and i can tell by looking at the parts i removed that they didn't change the waterpump or tensioner when they did it.... you need to factor these things in when getting a cheap quote..... that said though... £700 ouch i'll do it for ya at half that price... :)

Kid who did it is a mechanic so gets trade discount and then gives me a discount so all good, always use him for all my work.
