Sorry to not be of any help, but sounds quite major to me. Best of luck with it and let us know how it goes.

I will do.....to be quite honest I'm fed up with the car at the moment. Unresloved problems with the fuel gauge, occasional hesitation then goes into limp mode, and now the smell of anti-freeze on start up and a puddle of water under the car. I think my main irritation is me travelling the distance to Stafford Audi as other main dealers seem to be lacking in knowledge to sort the problems and its becoming costly trying to get an accurate diagnosis!!!.....rant over....:wtf:

Far as I remember Audi dealers now have a fixed price on cambelts and water pumps for all cars out of warranty, can't quite remember the cost but it was fairly competitive.

Audi do have fixed price servicing.... I paid £450ish about a year ago for cambelt and water pump...... but I think it's only upto 2.0 engines, worth asking tho

Thanks for your input. I'll ask on the day if it is the water pump. Bought some springs from Stafford Audi a couple of weeks ago and they were happy to give discount so hopefully they will be helpful.....

Good luck....hope it works out ok for you. I would imagine it will 4 hours labour straight away... getting the front bumper off are you changing the cambelt while you are at it....or has that been done recently....if not, I would have that seen to. Be a shame to have the front end off and not take advantage. Let us know how you get on.

    Cheers
    Allan

I'll let you know how I get on today. One thing I will say is that when I booked the car in yesterday they asked me if I could complete a survey to help with the diagnosis. I was happy to do this and also explained the other problems in detail, so they said they would send me two surveys straight away for me to complete a return.....I've had to ring the dealer twice this morning to get them to e-mail me as I did'nt get anything yesterday. One of the surveys relates to interior water ingress....... I know it sounds like I'm moaning but its not a good start is it!?! We will see what happens.

I've got a quote for the water pump. Four twenty for Stafford Audi to do it. They were pretty good today. They did a fairly in depth diagnosis of all the faults, fitted a new fuel filter and I had a chat with the technician as I had explained that no-one previous seemed to know how to fix the problems highlighted.

I've been in touch with a company called BVR Automotive in Longton near stoke. Out of interest has anyone had dealings with these and independant specialists. They have quoted me 202 pounds to fit the waterpump. I've always gone to Audi but half the price is tempting if they are ok? They were advertised on this Forum....
