Following on from my previous thread re: fuel pump issue (blown fuse due to water ingress) Read here

So it seems the water coming in to the boot on my RS6 C6 Avant is coming from the offside tail light. I'm not 100% sure at the moment but it seems likely as the area behind the light is wet.

We are talking about a huge volume of water. Knowing it was going to rain overnight I dried the boot thoroughly late afternoon yesterday. This morning I sucked approx 2 litres of water out of it with my shop vac. It did rain hard overnight, but there is no way that amount of water would have collected even if I had left the tailgate open.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a known fix?

Is there a gasket or seal of some kind that I can replace behind the tail light? I tried looking on the LED retrofit guides and can't find any mention of one.

I know I could just take it out and silicone it up but that's a bit of a bodge!

Do you have access to a smoke machine? Or can rent one? As I'd be inclined to pop one in to the car and see where the leak is happening to eliminate other possible issues....

I actually have a smoke machine, funnily enough, from many years ago when I was running a mobile disco... yeah, that long ago! Had not thought of that idea, worth a shot I guess. Thanks!

Let us know how you get on.. It does appear to be a lot of water! That's what's making me think it could be something else... Either way it will definitely help eliminate/narrow it down for you! Does your current light have a seal round it?

Thats an awful lot of water for a leak originating from a light seal! - I know the UK has had some rain recently.....

Ive see quite a few threads that mention leaking screen washer pipes for the back window. Is the water soapy or does it have that washer fluid smell?
