 - I have to say it doesn't seem to work as well as it did on Glyn's. By no means bad, just not as striking. I wonder if, as well as the lower angle, it's the contrast of the lighter colour that helps to show it up?

As above, it may be the black on black, a better picture would help.

Given the abysmal weather and my lack of time I've not been doing too well. Leave it with me and I'll see if I can sort one today. I'm warming to it the more I see it. Almost don't notice it now it looks so understated!

I think the thing is with the "quattro" badge it is recessed quite a bit in that slot on the S5 grille, so only realy visible at a slight distance or straight ahead. I fitted mine only a couple of weeks after getting the car so had not really got used to how it looked before without it, whereas Warren had got used to the previous appearance. I think maybe it is more noticeable on the front of a Phantom Black S5 Black Edition as the only other bright objects are the lights. I have got used to seeing mine on the front of my car now and it looks as if it is just meant to be there. It would be easy to remove, but I am sticking with mine.
The only thing now is having just seen pics of Craig's new RS5, do I need a black RS5 grille?

    Hi Warren,

Lovely S5 that you got there.
What I dislike my S3 is the turbo lag as I'm using my car for Sydney CBD driving, torque is what I needed the most. During the summer is what I hated my car the most too.

My mechanic always asked me to go for stage 2+ and he said the S5/RS5 is very hard to modify.
At the moment I'm thinking if I should go for the S5/RS5 or Valve for money should I wait for the RS3 sedan if it gets the go ahead.
Not sure if I will experience the same turbo lag again on the RS3 tho.
My first preference is the RS5, test drive on the weekend and I'm in love but since lot's of cars now going for turbo and more potential for modification.

I'm really not sure which model I should go for. Any suggestion.

    Cheers

    John

@JohnFS3, the S5 is an absolute peach to modify in V6 format and there is an easy 100bhp for a couple of grand. The RS5 is the better car, absolutely, but it's got very limited scope unless you want to bolt on a supercharger.

The RS3 is superb, and even more so when modified up to 420bhp+. It's quite a step up from S3, even one with S2+ so don't count it out.

I had the modify the S5 as it was too GT cruiser for me. After raw hatchbacks it just felt too safe and the DSG slightly ponderous. With S1+ it feels sharp, quick and still prestige, but it still feels a big car against the S3/RS3.

Personal view, and it's very personal; I think the V8 in the RS4/5 sounds amazing but power-wise I prefer my tuned V6. Just feels more lively.

A hard decision, and whilst I can offer a view point, at the end of the day only you can decide depending on what kind of feel you want from the car as they all do tea similar thing but execute slightly differently.

I would guess that your mechanic was talking about the naturally aspirated V8 S5 (and RS5) which, as Warren says without bolting a supercharger on is tricky to extract any real gains from. The SC V6 is a lot better from a tuning point of view.

    I had the new S3 and before that a V6 S5 and now have a RS5.

Don't wait for the RS3 - it will likely be a far better car than the S3 (which I was very disappointed with), but you'll see a S5 or RS5 and wish you had got one of those - they look so much better (regardless of what format the RS3 will take). And it will be Haldex. I don't like Haldex - it's not conducive to an entertaining drive.

If you are keen to tune go for the S5 and follow this thread for ways to do it properly.
Decent car - spec the diff.

If you want something properly special, go for the RS5. It feels like it is very well set up for driving, which it will be being a RS.
Something lovely about a NA V8 too. Won't be many more of them in future.

At the detailers this afternoon, turns out Audi have fecked me paint up when they cleaned it. Note to any of you, NEVER let a main dealer clean your car if you have an OCD about your paintwork :-( IMG_0660.JPG IMG_0661.JPG IMG_0664.JPG IMG_0665.JPG

It's, frankly, piss poor that they put so little effort in to not screwing up the paint work. Even these 10-15 quid car washes have never caused that level of damage to my paint work.

Sadly, as some will know, the same happened to my car when it was delivered!

A different dealer but I know @AdamZA had similar issues. It can't be that hard to not do any/minimal damage...

I wonder if it's the same bloke who did my pre-delivery 'wash'... I was looking back at the photo's of mine where the damage had been done, I wonder if this guy (or girl!) wears a ring of some sort, possibly a diamond one. IMHO this pic shows similar damage to yours Warren...
