Ok I think I have a fully working WMI kit now! I took the nozzle out the FMIC hose and pressed the test button, working fine.

I fitted the inline filter, hit test, nothing! Removed filter, hit test, nothing! How can this be?!

I removed the whole nozzle/check valve assembly off the hose and tested again, fluid coming out. Added the filter, fluid coming out still. Popped the nozzle back on, fully working! Bloody weird.

I can only imagine that they have tightened this latest nozzle a bit more as I keep complaining they leak. The pump must not be able to crack it open every time!

I'll be keeping a close eye on this little bugger. Might need to do some logging of AITs to be able to tell when it's working or not.

Anyway, I had to destroy the old nozzle as normally AEM ask for the old one back bu as they are in the states they ask the uk customers to smash them up. I took it apart first and got some pics. Enjoy:

I was going to try and hang on to mine and just put a solenoid on it that opens with the pump coming on and possibly have 2 nozzles but after the 4th or 5th email I gave up and broke it with a hammer ;)

The one you've got pictured is different to both of the ones I've had as both of mine had brass internals with a little wire mesh filter? Maybe you've got a complete different revision that looks to be made out of some form of nylon or plastic?

The little brass mesh bit is still there but it's part of the actual nozzle. My issue was always with the check valve part.

was going to say, i'm sure mine doesn't have that plastic bit inside either :S

I took it all apart when i got it, and as Stacey said, all brass internals and a gause filter inside too.

Can't believe they pestered you both for pictures of it broken!

Same here, the nozzle on my AEM kit is made out of stainless steel of some sort.

I've had a horrible day of brake changing today! Spent 3 hours changing the discs and pads on the drivers front wheel! Passenger side took me 45 mins.

Basically the Boxster callipers are a pita. The disc for the Boxster is 1mm thinner then the S3 disc so it's photo ally impossible to fit new discs and pads at the same time as they won fit.

In the end I had to use the old inner pad with new out pads and a new disc. I'll have to wait till the disc and outer pad has worn a bit before I can fit the new inner pad. Not an ideal situation!

Didn't even get a chance to do the rears so thatll be a job for next week but they will be easy. Then I can bleed the whole lot ready for ADI.

I've always changed discs or pads separately. It makes sense that they won't all fit together if you think about it. My discs have only lasted 10 months and my pads 12 months so I just need to stagger them in future.

I think I've effectively driven 50 miles this morning with the brakes on :faint: The pads are in so tight that I'm sure there is a degree of rubbing, will probably end up warping my discs. Lesson learnt I think.

Could you not get the pads slightly skimmed to allow fitment of both disks and pads at the same time?

Haha that image was the first thing that sprung to mind yesterday :)

I will see how they bed in and then I will either have to change a separate intervals in future or sell the callipers and go for some bigger ones.

Just take a file to the pads. I did it just the other week to remove a ridge that had formed, worked perfectly.

Not sure what the issue is though, theres usually way more than 1mm of slack in the caliper with new pads fitted to new disks...

Did you ever get boxster brakes Kev?

Trust me, even with the callipers all the way in there was no way I could fit new pads and a disc in.

I need to purchase some files anyway so I'll attack them later.

At the moment I'm running cheap stuff as I need to cut down my spending a bit. Got plain pagid discs with ferodo road pads and RBF660 fluid.

Oh and they are non S Boxster callipers.

I'm afflicted with that disease too. Way too easy to spend money on shiny or greasy bits for the S3. Mine was supposed to be a sensible station car. I've already spent £1k - still needs bodywork and a remap as a minimum, thats another £800 ish. Also thinking of polybushing the car, so thats another £600 (£280 bushes+£220 fitting +£120 4WA) and after that a FMIC and downpipe. At this rate I would have spent more on fixing it than what I paid for it.

I think I've gone way past that mate! If you read my whole thread you'll see I've spent a small fortune and compared to some I've not gone too mad. The custom map in a few weeks time and a new set of alloys are the final touches. I'll then hopefully calm down for a bit.

Just changed my rear pads and discs as they've not been done for 2 and a half years and I think it was safe to say that they probably didn't need doing.

    New Vs old

And the disc was fine too:

Just as has been said before this just goes to show how little the rear brakes do! I'd love a way to be able to adjust the bias to apply just a little more braking to the rear.

    Small, small update.

As the team dynamics group buy has stalled I had to find some wheels for ADI and Bedford Autodrome in November. I found these little beauties on ED38 for £100. They're TT wheels painted BMW imola red. Will look wicked as lairy track wheels plus I think red was a popular colour in my poll at the top of this thread.

I know they're not lightweight or to the width and offset I wanted but I know they'll fit and I can stick my yoko slicks on them. Anyway here they are:

Yeah I seem to have a habit of finding bargains ;)

I like them too. Maybe a bit too much for the road but they will be mint on track.

Remap next week so some exciting things coming up in this thread I hope.
