Direct lines website is down at the moment so I can't check but it has SMG down as a model you can choose once you select auto or manual. I just can't remember which.. Check it if it ever comes back up..

SMGII does not currently appear on any large insurance databases. Ask them to put it as a comment on the policy. It's technically a manual so they won't re-underwrite it if you do, but at least you're covered. Different insurers will have different experiences. Group 20 is only part of it, garaged is worthwhile, occupation makes quite a difference (if you're a sportsman - the big co's wont touch you), post code (some get down to 15 houses in a street), age (usually a termed 30 vehicle so, they will load you if you're under that), sp30's (minor speeding) don't usually make a difference, but prior claims will. So get your NCD protected and go with someone reputable. At the end of the day, if your fully loaded cab goes missing, they'll have to pay out £50k... for your £1200 stake. That's not a bad deal!

Just to add confusion to the debate, if you look for the M3 in Tesco's online quote engine, you'll only find it (cab or coupe) if you select automatic - doesn't appear under manual at all
