think its a plugin interface

I think its a combination of software and hardware, something to do with plugging a module into the rear whilst downloading the software, then removing, but not sure.

You can either use a hardware device that plugs into the back to apply the hack,
OR, you can use custom firmware. It involves downgrading the firmware so you need VAGCOM.
