I went to my local Evans Halshaw dealership to test drive a car...

i really liked it to be honest, but their pathetic and hard sell service put me off it! he wasn't negotiating at all...like he wouldnt even listen...what my feedback of test drive was etc. there was a small chip on the bonnet which he stated is down to the age and i was lucky to find a car with only few chips :S

anyway, he was c**t - he said that I will have to put 100 towards a mandatory "vehicle status check" - surely thats not compulsory is it? I mean if a dealer of that size is selling a car i would imagine some kind of hpi or other checks were already done?

please advise me as to how to deal with this stupid evans halshaw garage - i dont really want my money going to them but the car is nice (its an a3 tdi sportback btw)

Walk away!!!

There will be another deal along soon enough.

true! exactly what i did!

what on earth is a vehicle status check for 100 quid anyway?

That check should be done before the vehicle is offered for sale. That 100 squid would have been pocketed.****er.
