vcds, vag com, hex, can.????

hi guys, ive joined recently and i am looking to get vcds and i think things have changed since i had vagcom for my mk4 1.8t golf.

ive now got an 06 a3 2.0tdi and i am not sure what i need. looking to just get a cheap cable from ebay for now, can anyone advise what i should look for, or avoid as the case may be. (cheifly im not sure what i need, hex or can)

You want HEX-USB+CAN interface.
