staying in garage for now!

Happened thursday 31 oct (yesterday) 10:35 at work gated car park.

came in a white peugeot 307 van (maybe)
plates [MJ57 NLP]

Smashed window, grabbed stereo and gone in 10 seconds!!!

police say big increased in vag stereo s stolen past 3-4 months.

local garage say they are replacing 100s of these vag stereo s!!!

so,
are these stereo s interchangeable across all VAG cars?
are they that easy to remove?
and no security code/pin needed?

Sadly the codes are easily bypassed, security glass is the way forward but by the looks of it these thieves were very determined.

I work in a Volkswagen dealership in Bradford and we have seen an increase in customers coming in with broken windows and nicked stereos..We have started taking all the stereos out of all our pitch cars just to stop the lowlifes that are going round nicking them..
BE AWARE PEOPLE..

They just crawl under that huge gap (2ft) of space under gates to get into car park!

No

The road is on incline.
Gates must move horizontally.

2ft gap always been there! :-(

Skoda just quoted £2700+vat to supply/fit stereo !!!

Hi Wayne - Sorry to see this mate. Mine was done in works car park too, over the summer.
Hope they catch the little buggers..... before i do!!! :gun2:

Reading stuff like this makes me glad I've got a detachable faceplate. Factory fit radios were always total rubbish but they are getting ever more clever and with in built sat nav etc you can see why there's a market for the oxygen thieves.

OEM systems are now becoming more integrated, as in bolted into the dash using a controller hidden away not part of the dash screen & thus you would have to nick the whole car to make it worthwhile for some chassis that is, which of course I in no way whatsoever condone, pity vag didn't think of another way to make them more secure.

Might aswell get a double din with a face off for that much, or even the kenwood thats custom for VAG vehicles.

The more secure a head unit is the more mess the thieves make getting it out. Had this happen in one of my old cars and they messed up the whole dashboard and centre console with screw driver marks.
