    Hey,

Ive been advised to get the car checked out with VCDS but not go to a main dealer, does anyone know of a good garage or someone on ASN who would be able to chuck their VCDS at my car to see whats going on with my boost issues?

Im in Derby 5 days of the week and Warwickshire the other 2 days of the week.

    Thanks a lot.

Intermittent boost issues, dumping 2 or 3 times through each gear.

If the ECU is dumping boost is typically the result of a boost deviation... so its seeing more boost than its requesting and will use the N249 and DV to dump boost....

Have seen this kinda thing recently on another car where someone had messed with the actuator and not plumbed the N249 back in right so was getting the chu chu chu DV noise (like a faulty DV) at low revs/boost when revving the engine as there was not enough vacuum to open the DV and the incorrectly adjusted actuator was giving erratic and uncontrolled boost...

I got the car on an obd2 reader not VCDS though, and there's no codes atall. The dv still works and I can definitely hear it spool and dump since having the pipercross and 007p. With the n75 unplugged there's a definate loss in power but i can hear the turbo spool and dump when it's supposed to without the problems I'm having with it plugged in.
When it's unplugged does it just divert all the boost back into the tip instead of going to the actuator?

No... unplugging the N75 electrically just lets the turbo run on actuator pressure which is around 0.5bar... this is why it feels less powerful...

Get it to a specialist mate... getting a little difficult to diagnose for you based on the little info you are able to give tbh... especially if you are not sure what to look for...

Can you elaborate on this in a way that someone as thick as duck s*it (me) would understand.

Would this be the reason that some people get the DV noise after doing the n249 bypass ?

Yeah I understand mate, thanks a lot for all the advice you have given. I'll get it to rtech at the end of the month to see what they have to say, see if I can get it sorted.

    Cheers

Depends on what noise people mean... if you breifly pull the vac pipe from the top of the DV while the engine is idling and blip the throttle a couple of times you will hear the noise you don't want which is compressor stall... this is the sound that most people seem to crave as its old skool turbo noise... this was before dump valves were introduced and is the sound of compressor stall which is potentially fatal for turbo's such as the K03/K04 and will reduce the life of any turbo anyway...

If the noise people refer to is a louder wooosh then this is ok... that noise is typically gained from panel/cone filters, larger TIP and remaps... more boost pressure/volume of air to get rid of and therefore more noise...

    Thats the one mate ;)

I had the same sort of noise when my engine cover was squashing the hose on top of the DV....lol

What would be the first suspect of this happening after doing the n249 bypass?
