    Probabaly been mentioned countless times but Paul a lad posted in one of my 8L threads this link;

Thorney Motorsport - Fuel Test Results Update

It basically states that Momentum99 is better - now as far as I know the V-Power we have over here is 99RON and on the contintent they have 102RON in areas.

Which do people feel is better to use? Ever since I've had the A3 I always used V-Power and I think that's more from people's opinions about running the higher octane fuel in the turbo cars as it also keeps the engine clean etc etc. I would imagine that before I had the car it was ran on 95RON 'whatever was available at the time' fuel as I bought the car completely standard and it had been a business use car for the first 6years.

But read in a few threads below that a few have started using Momentum99 - I don't really fancy swapping and then suddenly coming to an area where Momentum99 is unavailable as I would rather stick to one fuel.

    Quote from a forum
"The Tesco 99 fuel again outperformed V Power in all the tests but the differences between the two fuels were marginal and we doubt most people would tell the difference in their cars on a day to day basis. However the Tesco fuel was the most consistent."
I used to be a shell fan until I seen the light and have not looked back.

Momentum99 and V-Power are both available within 5 mins of me, so spoilt for choice... I always use V-Power though, and probably will continue to do so.

To be honest the difference in price of a full tank is marginal. Pay 139.9 against say 144.9 then a full tank (50litres) is only about £3

they may be sponsered by tesco but they didnt give a biased review on bp.

also i used to use the shell v power and found it lacked in power compaired to the normal stuff this was even after 6 full tanks worth so switched to tesco and it runs far better.

I know of a few tuners that dont rate Tesco 99, Revo being one of them! A mate of mine was up at Revo HQ 2 weeks ago for a stage 1 remap and he also bought an SPS3 box. He was told not to go above a certain number on the box until he changes to V-Power!

I've also heard that the quality of Tesco fuel seems to be far more inconsistant than that of V-Power! But there will be contradiction all over the net and nobody seems to know for sure?!

I too have heard that the MON rating of V-Power is better and more consistant than the Tesco fuel. I tend to use the Tesco stuff as it's more convenient for me and I get my clubcard points. lol

I've recently switched from V-power to Momentum. I've noticed no difference apart from the £3 saving in my pocket each time I fill up, so over the course of a year that's about £100 saved for me. I think that's pretty worthwhile.

ive switched from Vpower recently as the price over normal unleaded has gone through the roof!! I now go to my local Waitrose, as they only have a few garages they use BP for their fuel - i use their super

144.9 versus 137.9...no brainer to me, robbing s**ts

When it comes to the £3 saving I think it depends how often a month you fill up

Even twice a month gives a £72 per year saving. Might as well. No point in throwing money away.

    Is it?
Whether you put in a full tank or not is irrelevant really.

How many miles per year would you say you do, and how many miles per tank does your car give you on average?

£60 per week i fill up at tesco which is 43.8ltrs at £1.37
shell is £1.41 which would give me 42.6 ltrs for £60

every month i gain an extra 4.8 ltrs or save £7.04 per month

£84.48 per year or 57.6ltrs of fuel per year

I have tried BP Ultimate over a period of time on 2 cars and found the mpg dropped! It is also far and away the most expensive fuel in my area. I have also used Shell V-Power and while I did not find any improvement to the mpg it did not drop. Also seems to make the engine a little more responsive and eager (may be my imagination), and still use this from time to time but mostly running on Shell or Tesco standard 95 unleaded.

i work for tesco and we often do send 50quid get 5p off per liter of petrol vouchers, 3 of these can be used at anyone one time, so 15p off. You would be surprised how many people leave their vouchers behing. So momentum 99 when the vouchers are about and still try to get momentum for the clubcard points :) shame dont get the staff discount :( haha

I have always used Vpower in my last 3 cars, the only one that I felt any difference on was with the ST TDCI and it was after I was forced to put some morrisons cheap **** in , after a few miles it felt sluggish. As soon as I started to use Vpower again it soon felt better.

Having said that yesterday I decided to fill up with Momento for a change and will try it for a few tanks.

I'm spoilt as I have BP,Shell and Tesco all within a couple of miles lol
