USB & AMI interface box - genuine Audi ?

Surely you would need to have the Tech pack with USB already as the wiring is different and therefore you couldn't just swap the AMI connector block over to gain a USB socket.... I assume thats what you were meaning to do?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if all A3s have the same wiring loom to accommodate all possible options. Many other manufacturers do this as it works out more cost effective for them than producing lots of different looms for all the different permutations.

I would expect the wiring looms to be the same (the USB socket only provides power after all), but couldn't guarantee it.

my car is still 2 months away, but it is a cheap enough option to try, having the AMI port along side a generic USB (even if it is only a charging port and not a data port) is not a bad option to have for so little money.
