As long as the outside of my car looks ok to anyone who looks then i'm fine with it. I'll just get tints so no one can see my tescos no frills interior.
    I'm shallow like that.

A nearby football team called Kilmarnock also likes tesco..

My car was basic spec too - but not any more LOL.

Thats the difference between females & cars - the latter you can change for the better by spending cash on it!

For everyone who says that you shouldn't allow drinks inside the car, perhaps consider this:

I cycle. -A lot. -Hundred mile rides sometimes (rarely less than fifty), but EVERY weekend, without fail, I'll lob the bike on the rack and head off somewhere. -It gets pretty warm around these parts, and I have to stay hydrated to avoid keeling over.

I take TWO 24-0z (pint and a quarter, roughly) sized bottles of fluid which have to fit into the bottle holders on the bike. -The seals on the bottles are pretty good, but not infallible... I'd HATE to lie them down on their sides and hope that nothing leaks out inside the car. (You don't want them on the bike while you're driving, because it adds massively to the weight of the bike up on the rack (adding to it's tendency to wobble on rough roads etc) and also because it'll pick up all sorts of sand, dirt and **** being chucked up by the cars and trucks in front.

So every weekend when I throw the bike on the roof carrier, I pop the two fluid bottle into the US-spec cup holders. -The front one is firmly held all the way in, and though the back one sits a little high, it's not going to fall over. -i haven't been able to discover ANY alternative which works half as well, though of course I'm open to new ideas and suggestions.

The power outlet thing is great because I can charge my phone and the missus can charge her iphone without having to remove my ipod from the dock in the glove box...

I have to say that I was baffled when I discovered that Audi doesn't give the UK/Europe the option of the central console which it fits in all of its US models... The US spec 'center console' is excellent. -The only thing that I changed is adding the aux input (which wasn't present on 2008 models) but other than that, I say that having lived with the US center console, it's WAY better than the European/British version.

Can post pics if anyone's curious.

Can you post up a pic of the bottles you keep in there and another of it actually in the holder. it sounds like the 'US centre console' has a larger drink holder than the euro ones.
    thanks

good man! lets see what Stoke says!

    Under the arm rest?
    Under the hand brake?
Or in the wall of one of the cup holders?

I never understood the need for this button... You still need to put the key in and turn it to get the ignition live. I'm sure you can do without it mate.
If you really want make up a button on one of those blanks under the RNSE and wire in the push to start there

TBH it was a leftover from my B6 S4 that I never got fitted, after researching, I found it was a universal fit for 8P, B6/7 in the center console, so I decided to make it work, then some chump, I told how to wire it in, took the credit, but alas, bit like Steve Jobs taking credit for my idea for the mp3 player, guess I won that round huh

Anyway, it would be fun dremelling the trim down, but yes I guess I could move it if absolutely necessary, I do want cup holders in that location, I was gonna nick something from a bmw to retrofit on side of console, we'll see.

Here's a couple of cell phone snaps of the large insulated bike bottles in my car:

You can see one lying down on the seat for an idea of size:

    And both in the cupholders:

Armrest still goes down etc. and they're held pretty securely.

The one thing about the FRONT hole is that it's wider and deeper, but it has an excellent set of three sprung 'fingers' which grip the bottle/cup at the 12 o'clock, 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock positions. For cleanliness, the fingers are all hermetically sealed behind an all-encompassing rubbery (grippy!) surface. -This means that dust and spills don't get into any gaps, to gum anything up.

Also, if a cup has a handle on it (like a ceramic tea mug or whatever... though I can't imagine myself or anyone else drinking out of a ceramic mug while I'm driving!) then the mug can be used in either front or back location, and the handle can extend into the other location, through the 'gap' where the two meet.

Ok so these are the parts I ordered:

    4B091930B01C LIGHTER
    0009792273EA WIRES x 2
    000979220E WIRE SET x 2
    000979220E WIRE SET x 2
    000979023E WIRE SET
    000979130E WIRE SET
    1J0919321 HOUSING
    357919321 HOUSING
    8P18632416PS CONSOLE
    8P0862533B6PS HOLDER
    8P0863387G6PS COVER

    So here is the lighter:

Turns out I do not need it as the insert for the console already comes with the lighter - £8.33 to get back

    The insert in question:

No idea what is to go into the slot at the bottom of the insert as it is not present in the above pictures - can any americans help me out here???

    Console itself - fecking cat!!

The underside to show the cup holders which came with the console:

The cup holders themselves which I have extra: (£33 I think)

Plastic housings, not sure what these are for yet:

And the wires - some amount of them for god knows what but will see once I get in there:

Plan to fit these in the next couple of weeks - wanting to get the "triangles" done in leather so best do this all at once!

I will keep you all posted!
