    Hey everyone,

Need to replace my tyres as I'm running on slicks! (Well, not quite, but nearly).

Currently have Continental SportContact 3 on the car, but was wondering if there were any other favourites among the owners - I used to have a BMW 3 series and Falken FK453 were the tyre of choice there, and the recommendation for my wife's Audi A2 from the A2 Owners Club is Hankook something-or-others.

    So - any recommendations?

    Cheers.

I had goodyear eagle f1s not that impressed with grip and the rears went faulty before they worn out(sidewalls split badly),so changed to toyo t1 sports,i have had many sets of toyo's without problems and grip is excellent.Plus price is more reasonable than the big names.

Opposite...always had the eagles and they've served me well. Just make sure they are made in Germany not China...been issues with the latter.

They were my second set of eagles,on different cars, that have had a problem, the car came with this set,but still bad, first ones distorted badly, all were original f1 v pattern not asymetrictype.

I have the Sport Contact 5's on 17's and I must say they are the best tyres I have ever had in terms of grip, road noise etc but what really freaked me out was how great they are in the rain and wet....no weaving or loss of control even in the roughest, crappiest wet road conditions. I think they are pricey right enough....I paid around €650 Euro for four, fitted and balanced when I was in Germany this year....dunno how much they are in the Old Country.

Don't go down the cheap route when it comes to tyres in my experience......false economy and hazerdous to your health!.....but am sure you know that already!

    Good luck.

Asymetric ones are the one to use, great in all weather, not used the v type ones...

Currently have Kumho KU39s on the front as I thought the Conti Sport Contact 3s were just too £££££ and I have not noticed any difference. Would have Falken FK452s again as they were good. Would avoid Goodyear Eagle F1s, not had much luck with them in the past and neither have friends. :(

Thanks for all the feedback guys - it looks like there's no clear winner unfortunately, so an may just have to stick with the Contis..

Any thoughts on SportContact 3 vs SportContact 5? ;)

Don't forget camskill.co.uk for great tyre prices once you pick the brand you want.

No question that they are a great tyre for grip wet and dry, I have them on my 2.0 tdi.No mention however about the soft sidewall that turns the car into a 2cv however. The tests would also be more credible if 'normal' cars were included, a 2.0tfsi, a tdi etc

Michellin PS3s 14000 miles on my Avant, amazing in the wet no tramlining. Ran Conti Wintersport in the winter as the Alpins are way too expensive.

I've had Conti's, Dunlops sports and now Michelin Pilot sports - These have been the best so I'm putting another set on for the winter.
