Hi, I need to get my front tyres replaced following a puncture this weekennd have a question which I hope someone may be able to answer please.

My tyre size is 235/40ZR 95Y. I know what most of that means but is the speed rating the ZR or the Y?
ZR's seem to be a lot more expensive than Y's.

    Any info very much appreciated.

    Many thanks

    The speed rating is Y.

R means it's a radial, I'm not sure what ZR means, maybe someone else can help you there.

    Thanks for the info everyone.

Seems extreme to have tyres for a spped capability of up to 300km/h, can't see me get that out of my diesel!

I remember after changing them a year or so ago that they have to be the extra load tyres too due to the weight of the car, which again adds to the price.
