Think 45/39 is for mud and sand (M + S). Thinking it should be 42/33?

Yeah because if you don't you the tyres wear out super quick on the inner edges. Ran our MY2010 car at 30 psi and the front tyres were trashed in 10k miles...

Each model seems to be different in the pressures but my advise is stick to what it says on your door or fuel flap.

Door shut says 28/29 but then I'm not running stock size wheels for my car. So I just guessed but I should look it up I suppose.

I found 38 front and 31 rear a good compromise between town and A road driving.

I just had 4 new ones put on yesterday, they said I shoud run them at 32. Seems low to me.
Original wheels were 17 so anything written on the car is no use now.

That seems too high to me 42 front and 33 rear. Run 32 all round myself and its a smooth ride and handles great

That's too low, you will screw your tyres up.

Whereas the sticker inside the petrol cap on my 3.2 (sport suspension) clearly states 36 front and 33 rear for my 225x45x17 tyres. The handling has always been up to expectations although I do suffer greater wear on the inside edges but only on the rear tyres (geometry checked and re-checked at different specialists and is correct). I wonder why there is such a disparity between front tyre pressures? I believe that high load factor tyres are specified for the S3, but they're not required for the 3.2.

Is the difference in front tyre pressures simply because of the lower profile of S3 tyres on 18" rims? I would have expected that the 2.0 engine with turbo in the S3 was no heavier than the 3.2.

Do specified front tyre pressures differ depending upon whether or not a DSG gearbox is fitted?
