Turning on remote central locking

Please can someone explain how to enable remote/keyless entry on a 1998 A4 avant?

I have checked my central locking pump and it is compatible.

I believe you need to add the correct coding to the current code in the Central Locking Controller. However, I am not sure what the new code is.
