Been doing a little research on this sort of thing for my 20vt Corrado project, being honest, £805 is a lot for a hybrid, is it a k03 or k03s? I've found these guys CR Turbos :: HOME they quoted me, for a stage 2 hybrid, £595 provided the turbo you send them is in good condition. For £800-1000 I'd look at going k04 tbh as the k03s is good for around 230-250bhp provided you have complementing engine upgrades too i.e. upgraded injectors, IC, induction blah blah. If your considering spending that sum of money on a all singing all dancing standard unit but don't have the other engine mods, I'd just go for a normal rebuild.

Only reason I was planning on sticking with a k03 housing is I've got a AH Motorsport fmic fitted at the moment. It'll just be a ball ache getting it modded to fit a k04 plus can't be bothered with changing the maf and intake pipe again.

As my turbo the penny valve sounds like s**t when I let off the throttle its been like this for a while so its only a matter of time now

I see, fair enough makes sense as to convert to k04 is a pain in the **** and parts are premium too.

Personally, I'd just source a new k03 off someone who's breaking a 20v and have it rebuilt, this will save you a few hundred quid but if you've £800 burning a hole in your pocket, go for the stage 3 hybrid but whether you'll fully reap the benefits of a stage 3 hybrid on a standard-ish 20v engine I'm not so sure...? Turbo Dynamics are good though!

Tbh honest I'll probably go for the stage 2 as it'll be slightly less aggressive plus still have to fork out for a full exhaust, remap, DV, maybe injectors depending on the outcome of the remap.

its only my daily driver but no reason why it can't have some poke as ill spend most of my time in it.

Sounds perfectly sensible enough. That's the good thing about the 20v so workable and tuneable, great little motors! I'd say you'll only need bigger injectors if you plan to run a 4bar FPR, but as you say, depends on how aggressive you want your remap?

Why not get the Frankenturbo kit if you want to go hybrid ???? Comes with high flow manifold, 3" intake pipe and theres a few extra options ie MBC, in-line fuel pump, 3" maf housing, or maf adapter if going to be using stock MAF.

the kit comes in around the price of the turbodynamics hybrid and is a good kit for the price. I have the F4HL fitted on mine even on stock map it gives it more 'poke' the newer F21 is now available from them which i will be upgrading to at the end of this month.

have a look heres the link,

For your requirments, id be asking Beachbuggy on here for a quote. He can do you a better hybrid than CR are doing without the potential quality problems that CR have show recently.

I've just got my beachbuggy turbo up and running today, and so far i'm really pleased :)

I'd defo be speaking to him.

I will be sorting out some photos and suchlike of the conversion soon.

Please note however, you will need a custom map with any hybrid, you wont be running stage anything if you want a safe and powerful motor.

Whatever turbo I get it'll be live mapped after or it'll be pointless upgrading.
