I feel that my car is not working right, turbo dead spots!

    Im going to inspect the turbo pipes and siht. it might be a good idea if;

    1. I knew where the turbo was (somewhere down the back?)
    2. If i knew anything about turbos (lol)
    3. If i knew what i was looking at, but.....

......**** it im gonna have a go anyway, only way to learn!

basically il cut to the ****, has anyone got any pics/labelled pics of the turbo just so i can have a clue before i go in two footed. or any other advice?

    Cheers lads/ladies,

Have a look at the MAF first before you go digging in. Got the instructions off the site and was going to attempt it when I get the darling back from the bodyshop. It seems this is a potential cure for lag and abrutness of delivery. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

The picture is of an engine sat on a bench dyno. Picked it up on the net somewhere.

I used to get the turbo that I fitted in my Astra GTE turbo glowing like that quite regular and even lit cigaettes from it as a party peice (when I was young and daft) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile_smoking.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

I suppose the one on my S3 glows like that quite regular too, it doesnt take much, just a blast up through the gears. But its tucked out back out of the way on these engines, not that I've looked of course /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

To post multiple pics, (someone tell me if there is an easier way) is too:-
post a pic in the regular way
    then view your post
right click on the image select properties and copy the URL for the picture
    edit your post
select Image in the UBB code
paste the URL you copied from the picture properties into the popup box
    then preview your edited post
    attach another image
do this over and over again for more images.

    Hope that makes sense. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

i think there are 2 easy ways.

    1) remove air intake box, remove air intake hose. look down to the end of the hose. turbo /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

    2) jack the car up, look for a snail=turbo

in the S3, all i had to do was get rid of the turbo inlet pipe and the plastic cover, then i can see it.
