    Hello,

Can anyone help me please, I am interested in buying the TTRS Brake kit for my S3, but I got two different answers from TT Shop that sell this kit and my Audi Dealer.

Ive sent an inqury to TT shop asking about the TT RS brake kit and they say that the brakes fit my S3 without any problem, that its just "plug and play". However after asking at my Audi Dealer, they said that the TT RS and the S3 have different joints for the Discs and that it will not fit my S3. So now I am in a very big dillema, can anyone help me please.... Thank you

I am friends with Dave and Justin at the TT Shop and I did enquire about them before. DON'T EVER EVER EVER LISTEN TO AUDI. They will fit yours.

I Know stattler have them on there ED30 golf and S3 brakes on the mk5 diesel golf so i would say there interchangable and the dealers either dont know or are speaking bull, there might be something different but i would ring steve jnr at statller first but i am sure they were pretty straight forward

The only problem is that I live in Croatia, so the TT shop fitting the brakes is not an Option. I just need to know that all stock parts are required to fit thoose Brakes, otherwise i am sc**** if I order them and they dont fit.... :) :)

Audi told me you cant retrofit RNSE lol so don't always believe what Audi tell you.

I said, I will be back in 2 days which I was, pulled the guy who didnt believe me and he was shocked. Said it would have cost £3000 and the tech guys in audi told him it couldnt be done haha

Yes it will fit, as everybody has said.

The TT Shop are very well experienced at big brake upgrades, so if they have advised they'll fit, I'd trust them 110%.

Never believe a dealer on their technical knowledge, the salesmen are there to sell, and the engineers are there to fix

Their imagination about changing parts which aren't standard is just 0

They will fit 100 % and no spacers required.

The set up Stattllers are running are from the TTs not the RS but easy to get confused. The RS conversion offers great value for money imo and more importantly looks so OEM, a great upgrade.

The TT shop said that since I am running 8x18 et43 I might be needing spacers, and If im running 8x18 et 50 I will need 10mm spacers and a big question is that I think I will not be able to fit 18" wheels, because the 18"s on the TT RS are very specific and not any rim will fit this setup.

My other alternative is from STOP TECH , a 355mm drilled discs and a 4 calipers. for this I will need no spacers and it will fit any 18" rim.

    What do you think??

    They've done TT-RS behind 18" TT wheels here :

The only difference between the S3 and TT I can think of is that the wheels on the TT are 9J so perhaps this will give slightly more clearance but when I spoke to the TT Shop they did so no spacers required, seems we could do with a definitive answer, who's going to be the first to try ?!? :)

Very useful thread and information all round,as I'm beginning to think that the brakes on my car are being exceeded by the engine!

The TT-RS kit looks like a very good and relatively cost-effective option, when compared to some, with the added bonus of it being Brembo sourced.

I dont see why is that a bonus??

If you are upgrading your brakes, and spending alot od money, I think that there is absolutley no need to look at it if its OEM or not?

After reading lots and lots about various brake kits, I found out that the OEM TT RS brake kit is not the best solution because OEM rotors are too heavy and just cant compete with more racing oriented kits within the same price range.
The other thing is since I am doing my car for track use (KW V3,KW arbs, Haldex Gen 4 switch...etc) Using TT-RS brake kit you defenetly need spacers when runing anything bigger than et40 on 8x18". And the 370mm rotors are too big to fit any normal/racing 18" wheel (OZ Ultralegera, Team Dynamics) because there is just not enough clearence, and the TT RS rims have some kind of special clearence which allows them to fit 18".

Thaking that into consideration you just cant run the optimal/best setup on coilovers with speacers because it will rub way too much.

So after doing lots and lots of research, speaking with various people and a main mechanic from Croatian WTCC Seat Leon kup. I finnaly place a deposit on a brake kit from STOPTECH which consists of very light 2-peace 355m rotors, 4 pot calippers, racing pads and stell braking lines. But still I am waiting for a answer from STOPTECH if whey will find a way for me to fit a 6pot callipers, if that would be possible it would be even better but still I dont know. have my fingers crossed... :)

I have no doubt that this kit will do a bettter job than a TT-RS kit.:rock:

Again, I dont see the point on spending that much money on something just because it is OEM+ when for the same amaunt of money you can get much better.

because in the UK the dealers will give you a lot of grief if they see 'non standard parts' on the car.
Important if your car still needs to go to the dealers .
I bet 99% of them wouldn't spot the RS brakes - even though the calipers say RS on them !!

I'm going for this setup on my A3 2.0TDI:

R8 4pot rear caliper, S3 345 OEM drilled disc, braided lines, carriers and pagid pads, I'm paying £1k for that OEM setup which I've been told by my braking specialist performs better than the 4 pot AP equivilant, I'm also doing S3 310mm OEM rears.

So the fact its OEM, just makes it even better for me in my opinion! Will do pics and write up.

Just ordered and booked the car in for this upgrade with the TTshop so will keep you guys posted on the out come once I get the brakes swopped overin April on my return home.

What I would like some advice on is to the potential resale value of the stock S3 front brakes that will be up for grabs once the conversion is done.

New standard discks and pads fitted about 200 miles ago and the car dosent move whilst I am abroard, so hardly bedded in! but I can not find any info on the site for similar part sales.
So any info from guys that have upgraded A3 to S3 brakes would be appreciated.

    Cheers

The biggest problem with this kit is that the discs are not 2-peace floating, as this makes much difference, with this being a OEM disc it wount nearely highline the callipers as some better disc would...

Keep trying to think of the tune to OMD's most popular song, if only you could 'humm' on a forum !

Be interesting to keep a BBK thread going as there seems to be much debate about the best way forward, I attended a track event today and really do think a BBK is required.

For sure... OEM S3 brakes are good up to u point, even with ATE performance discs, performance pads and race oil they are still to week...for road driving are ok but a BBK is required especially on track days where OEM brakes are for sh****.

S3 brakes are good for standard S3 power. But when you go Stage II +, as your BRAKE horsepower increases, then you obviously need to increase your BRAKING power also

out of curiosity does anybody know the cost of replacement discs etc for the TT-RS kit compared to the price of new rotors for some of the big brake kits available? as this may also be a deciding factor for some
