The drivers side track rod end is worn on the drivers side of my 98 A4. Audi want £350 to change it and tell me its not covered by the approved used warranty - anyone know if it should be?

Can anyone tell me if these are fairly straight forward to change?

    Thanks.

Aha!.. Ask user xvw, he has the same issue and apparently it IS covered by the warranty so read the small print...

Hmmm... but if it says '"Steering system: All parts including from the steering wheel TO the track rod ends"

Does that then mean everything inbetween the steering wheel and the track rod ends i.e not including them!?

    Just playing devil's advocate! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/groovy.gif

Fair enough, but I reckon if it's anything BUT totally clear then it's fair game to argue about...

    And they do say 'including'...

    Thanks for all the replies.

I tried the dealer again as well as Audi UK, but they both tell me it is not covered by the warranty. I now have it booked in at an independent to get it done - he reckons it will only be £50 to change it!

To be honest I don't think I would trust the dealer (Edinburgh Audi) to change it seeing as at the service they over tightened the wheel bolts (to over 250nM), set all the tyre pressures to 30 psi instead of 36 and told me both front tyres had 4mm tread left despite the passenger one being bald at the edges and only having 2mm in the middle - if they can't even get stuff like that right..........
