Too tacky?

after one of my heating vent strips things fell out the other day i was thinking about pulling them all out and and painting them red....i have seen them on ebay in a chrome finish but my question is....too tacky? does anyone have any pictures?

Would be too much chrome IMO.

i wasnt thinking chrome was thinking red, i will concider it and if it looks naff voohees is going to respray them black for me : )
