Hi there my audi is coming along nicely now just wondered what your views were on Window tinting.

Im after limo black but i know the 2 front windows are illegal but if i get just the rear 3 wont it look rubbish?

    What you think?

Definately a light tint all round. Otherwise it will look like a van.

I thought the law had changed about getting your windows tinted, i thought if they came standard then its ok but your not allowed to get them done afterward.
If it is ok to get them done still what is the most % wise you are allowed and how much does it normally cost?

    Cheers

Personally i'd say no tint, but i can see the appeal of them still.

ive got medium smoke rear 3 and light smoke front windows, looks spot on IMO, but i do have the white leather so it needed to be medium smoke. if you have dark interior, then i'd say light smoke all round

i'v also been looking into this because i want mine doing aswel, the most your allowed is 70%. i think that the same tint all the way around would be better, so think im going to go for 70% all around. still dont no where to get it done though, and to get windows dipped or use a film? any ideas lads?
    cheers

bear in mind that its 70% light transmission........which means 30% tint.
You can have anything you like on the back windows but virtually nothing on the front windows.....thats what the law says anyway ;)

I love my tints (30% front 50% rears) and will probably have them done the same or similar on every car I own from now on.....seems strange driving a car without them.

yeh i no that, but it doesnt really look that good different shades all around, looking at the car from the side view, you will see your drivers windows at 30% and the rear windows at 50%, looks odd. but each to their own!

yeah i get what you mean, and I agree to some extent.I just felt that 30% was a little bit too light for all around as I wanted to be able to conceal anything I left on the back seats. The guy advised me that any darker than 30% on the front and the cops tend to start getting involved. I've had them 2 years now and been pulled a few times.....not once have my tints been mentioned.

p.s. I wanst being pedantic about the whole 70%-30% thing, just didnt want to confuse anyone else reading this thread (because I know how thick you audi drivers can be :p ! [j/k I hope to be a fellow audi driver sooner rather than later])

ha, ok, so would you say its not to much of a drastic change then from lookin side on? coz personally i also don't feel that 30% is enough, i have got a silver car aswel just wondering what it would be like on that?

dont know really mate, its not too bad but for pure looks factor I would go for 50% all around. Only problem is I do feel that this does actually hamper your ability to see at night quite drastically, aside from the fact that the police might get arsey with you and rip em off.

Heres a pic of mine......I know its a different car/colour but hope it helps a little. I can live with the difference even though it is noticable, its not as bad as having limo black backs and nothing up front.

well that looks spot on to me, i can't bearly tell the difference, and that is 30% and 50 % yeh? wouldn't risk 50% then getting pulled over, then some coppa trying to get them off with a screw driver then me getting locked up for the night, ha ha.

it is 30% 50%, but that pic makes them both look darker as the other tinted window on the other side of the car is in line if you catch my drift. It is slightly more noticeable than that, but not a great deal.
On an S3 mind you, I think 30% all around would look fine as it is a classy enough looking car as it is!

 whats wrong with using the boot?

I dont really like tints I think its because round here "modded" cars with tinted windows have a certain image attached to them and that image allways sticks in my mind when the subject of tints comes up

    light tint is cool though

I find naked women object to being shoved in the boot, well most of em haha.

Its basically because I have most of my boot taken up by 2 subs and being as I used to be in a band there were always guitars/basses/equipment lying on the back seats (they wouldnt fit in the boot comfortably even with the subs out)
