Well ive gotta start thinking of a clutch and flywheel shortly as the clutch doesnt feel all that great plus it judders/shakes when pulling off all the time even though it doesnt slip the biting point is at the top which i believe this to be fairly common on B5 & B6......anyhows had 2 qoutes first 1 £703 all in with replacing my badly worn gearbox mount aswell and the 2nd was £770 + vat.... both these kits come with new DMF, clutch, and release bearings,(think the slave cylinder is also included aswell within the kit) anybody had this job done cheaper around the midlands

Think at audi its £649 for non quattro but not sure if that includes flywheel, thrust bearing etc.. Mines desperate for a new clutch it slips really bad when i give it a bit of a boot. Im gonna find out tomorrow the cost for everything. Only going there because its 2 yrs guarantee and unlimited mileage

while we are on the subject has anyone fitted a new clutch and DMF themselves?

mine is in need of doing soon and i dont do garages i do all my own work

how hard or easy are they? is it a gearbox out job or will it slide back enough to give room

both my prices are very well named vw/audi specialists.... think the fly clutch, bearing and slave is 400-450 itself and the rest is labour been told today from the cheaper one as its me (lol) they will knock 50 quid off so 650 and then i gotta get my gearbox mount which is 50 notes.... they also said if the flywheel is that bad and it fails it can damage the gearbox housing but theyve only seen this happen twice...

I'm normally the same but from what i have read its a nightmare job. Heres a link for A4 Mods Clutch removal

:: a4mods.com :: - The Premiere Audi A4 Modification Guide and Pictures Library

Really good site full of lots of detailed info on most jobs that need doing on a B6, after reading this and seeing how long it will take to do and the fact its cold outside i'm thinking £649 @ Audi is not a bad price and i get to play with an S3 for the day

I just had my clutch and flywheel replaced today as it had started slipping when booting it in 5&6th, i was on 120k and got it remapped about 6k ago which didnt help the clutch.

I bought the clutch and flywheel from eurocarparts myself and thet got local garage to fit today. Took about 5hrs but that is because its a quattro so takes a little longer. Mechanic said the clutch wasnt even that bad and dmf in perfect condition but replaced it anyway as i had alraedy bought following reading some posts on here to say replace both when doing it as it makes sense when in pieces.
Will maybe try selling dmf on ebay now.

Not had labour bill yet but parts cost about 450. Heres hoping this clutch will see my ownership of the car out.

my m8 works for a vw main dealer and hes give me some figures for dmf and clutch today and its very cheap with is discount but i wont post anything yet until there in my hands i have told him to leave it until after xmas anyhows...... but the figures hes give are very impressive id like to know how much these parts are brought in for
