Tidied up the back of my A3

Had the A3 2 months now, I'm really enjoying it. Todays been my first opportunity to spend some time on it. Decided to spruce up the back end in prep for getting some my11 lights. On one hand Im happy with the result, on the other hand Im gutted.



The exhaust tips have come up a treat, they were barely visable before. I dont like badges, so VERY carefully removed them with dental floss, didnt want to risk scratches. Soon became evident that they'd been taken off before and put on with some heavy duty glue. Its raised up from the paintwork and looks awful. Tried AG tar and glue - didnt work. Tried T cut (gently) - didnt work. I debadge my last car, quick job, just peeled of the remaining sticky stuff, a quick polish and looked great. Im now left with the decision to either put some back on, or rub it down and have the boot resprayed =-(

I had a similar issue when I debadged my boot.. A decent mobile bodywork specialist should be able to get rid of the marks relatively cheaply.. I didn't even get charged as I was getting my alloys refurbished at the same time.

Just get it sprayed mate as you wanted the badges off so there's no point putting them back on

A friend of my Dad's owns an auto cosmetic company and body shop. Going to go see him Tuesday, see if he can fit me in whilst I'm off work this week

Try a heat gun

My exhaust are thick charcoal black due to over fueling also throws out alot of smoke, map needs adjusting, but your car looks clean pal

In regards to your Sticker glue residue, i would recomend using some UPVC cleaner to remove the badge glue - then dress the area with a abrasive polish. When i initialy removed my badges i had a little glue left over and this removed it. However 8-9month later you could see where the badges had being, the paint was cleaner under where the badge had being, this was cured with a full detail with a DA yesturday by a friend.

I had similar issue, I used hot water then pealed most of the glue off by hand, then used AG tar remover on the residue. Then polished and waxed the boot lid

Thanks all. My exhaust tips were disgusting, completely blackened. I just used a tube of T cut scratch remover and a lot of elbow grease, they came up well eventually. No way are they being allowed to get as bad as they were.

With regards to the glue, I've tried AG tar and glue but it didn't do anything. I've removed all of the "normal" adhesive that they're stuck on with. Someone has clearly removed them in the past and stuck them back on again with something else

Just to cut and elbow grease. I've just bought some chrome polish to bring them up even better
