Hi Guys

I'd like to remove and clean my TB on a Passat 1.8T(thus longitudinally mounted engine), with Drive By Wire.

The manual says to drain the coolant.
Is this necessary or can one do it without as have recently had the coolant changed...

Thanks

I see no reson why you couldn't do it without a drain.....but when it says "drain the coolant".....it doesn't really mean drain into the gutter in the street and throw away. you can catch and reuse it

the only reason i think you would need to drain coolant is if there is a coolant run around the throttle body, if this is the case, it is so high up in the engine bay you would hardly loose any coolant anyway, more often though it is when you take an inlet manifold off you have to drain coolant.
