Would it not be a good idea to have a sub-forum dedicated to handy advice and money saving solutions.

We must all have had problems with our cars and have had to spend time and money getting it sorted when if we knew the solution we could have fixed it ourselves.

My car wouldn’t start not long ago so I had to call out the RAC. If I’d known all I need do to solve a flooded 2.8 is pull the fuel pump fuse out and turn the engine over a few times before putting it back in it would have saved a lot of hassle.

When I had my Mondeo something under the dash decided to burn out. I was quoted about £400-£800 to fix it until someone told me that all I needed is a £13 transistor. Took me 10 minutes to fix!

I reckon there’s £10000’s worth of untapped information floating around this forum its just a case of knowing where to look.

Yeah i think thats a great idea just have a designated area like a catelogue designed like the forum but for fault fixes which are proven as i dont find that the search facility is adequate enough....i'm not knocking the search just feel it could be a little better. Good idea Chriswt /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ok.gif

Last month I took advice from this forum and bought a coolant temp sensor (£22 odd) becuase my car kept flooding and occasionally had a rough idle on start up.

I asked a very good Audi specialist in Dorset to fit it and they charged me £40 for fitting and to reset the cars computer.

It worked and the problem has gone. If I hadn't known what the possible cause could be I would have happily paid 4 times as much it get it fixed thinking it to be much more complicated problem than 1 broken £20 sensor.

Thats another big saving thanks to www.audi-sport.net.

    Cheers lads
