Update for anyone getting a CQUARTZ detail

Hi Warren,

This is the official line from CarPro:

Further to this previous message sent to all detailers,

To make sure any customers who see the evo ad and ask about the discount
10% we would ask you to either send them to this link
Cquartz UK EVO magazine terms

Or explain the terms to them,

The 10% discount applies only to the Cquartz UK upgrade coating, which
has a minimum pricing of £200 as an upgrade before the 10% discount.

The Carpro UK website will be updated in the next 48 hours to advertise
the new scheme alongside the EVO ad, and the map page ect will be
redesigned to improve customer experience and hopefully increase sales
leads for you.

Thanks
Craig

So at the risk of sounding thick, do you think Nick will honour this as he's already quoted us?

I did call him tonight to ask but didn't get through.

I'm not sure exactly what it means. I was hoping £35 off the £350 fee?????

Hopefully
Forgot to ask, are you having the glass treated as part of you detail?

Hadn't thought about that, but yes I will.

If you're interested, I noticed Nick had been doing a new Octavia VRS over the weekend with CQuartz Finest. Picture on his FB page...

https://www.facebook.com/DetailingUK

Fascinated by the use of the heat lamps for curing. No? Just me? Maybe just me being a detailing nerd then. :)

Nice to see other new cars going for the treatment.

If the heat lamps get the job done quicker I'm in! Need it in this 'orrible damp climate

Warren, I saw you'd ordered mats for your S5. Does the car come with any as standard? Just wondered if it's something I need to look into.

Does come with them, but the ones I saw were plain grey (but fine quality wise). I wanted silver edge piping to match lunar inserts (plus S5 logos). £70 delivered for the premium mats with logo from Autostyle.

I have a bottle of Dodo Supernatural glass sealant which I've been using on current S3 which put Rain-X to shame. Lasted a good 6 months, but I'd be interested to see what Nick's offering can do

Thanks Warren. As long as I've got something to get me started that will do for now.

Emailed Nick (seems to be the best way to get hold of him)
He suggested 'CarPro FlyBy 30' for the glass - seems ok

Keef, most of CarPro's stuff is good. Have a quick google or a look on YouTube, there are often reviews. Nick is a genuine guy with a passion for cars, he's just a very, very busy man! :)

Hi Scotty

Yes I've seen I video on youtube and it looks good. To be honest I'm a complete novice with detailing / products
so I have already told Nick I will go by his recommendations. From exchanging a few emails, reading reviews on here
and his website I already have complete faith in him and will go 100% by what he says!

Are you having a Glass treatment?

The more I read, the more I'm tempted to go balls deep and have 'wheels off' and get the hubs treated too.
I will also be looking for lessons in how to keep it tip top after he's worked his magic.

With the lunar interior panels I'm tempted to get the interior done too as I don't want stained seats (from jeans!). I saw a '14 plate S5 cab at Goodwood and already that had a blue'ish hue on the driver seat.

As its now built, the geek in me couldn't resist getting a Vehicle-specific information list with all the PR codes.
At least I can pre-check that they haven't missed anything!

Have to register and costs £5.95 for an hour, says you cant print, but its let me save the PDF
Just need your VIN number

I hope so!
I'm trying not to get too excited and holding off
Ringing the dealers until tomorrow.
It's not helping the fact that Warrens car seems to have
Jumped the channel and is almost within his grasp! :)

Don't get your hopes up gents, had more news from another member on A5)C that his car has been at UK port for 4 weeks awaiting haulage to dealers. Seems to be a Stobart issue. New S5 orders face 8 week delivery delay in the UK - Page 4 - A5_OC

How the f**k do they expect you to plan anything like this for new owners when you have details booked etc. (and possible private sale of existing vehicle). The bloke involved has been pretty much stonewalled in terms of useful updates.

What a monumental 'Grade A' f**k up. Proves the big recognised suppliers cannot always deliver, but then we see that in Govt pretty much every time we turn on the telly. Next time you see a fly on the wall doc for Stobarts blowing smoke up their own **** you will know the truth!

Channel 5 said they were ace so it must be true!

For the undisclosed sum of money Stobarts paid for their own 'big up the big guys' docu-soap Channel 5 were probably obliged to say they were really good at least 5 times ;-)

Makes me sick, as if they don't get enough publicity just on the grounds of heritage. That said they're all at it (Liberty / Boodles jewellers / Rolls Royce), as if they don't have enough advantage they get national TV shows to raise awareness some more.

I'd expect some kind of compensation for that level of incompetence and inconvenience. Audi UK should be all over this.

Christ I knew something would screw up as soon as it hit UK soil. Probably explains why 14 plate Audi's are a rarity on the roads.....

I could of gone to Ingolstadt and picked the damn thing up quicker.

Ahhhh I'm starting to slightly go crazy because it's been a long road and it's almost here

If our cars get held up we should go and start a protest camp outside the relevant ports and see if we can get it on nationally telly. See how quick they move then ;-)

Beware:

Before you mod your new (or CPO) B8 S4, be advised that Audi has become more stringent on checks for vehicle modifications and denial of warranty service as a result of modifications. To the letter of their new policies, Audi can assign the status "TD1" to any car, that has unauthorized changes to the powertrain. TD1 can be assigned to your car in two ways:

1) Automatic entry - during regular service at the dealership, Audi's diagnostic equipment checks your car for changes (typically a software tune or "chip") automatically. If during that scan, or during a scan initiated by the dealership, modifications are detected the TD1 flag is applied to your vehicle's record. This is an automatic process and cannot be manually removed. Even if your tuner tells you that their chip cannot be detected with an automatic scan, or if you plan to "flash back to stock" before service, be aware that the diagnostic equipment can run a comparative scan on the B8 S4 to test whether your car has been running a modified tune or not before visiting the shop.

2) Manual Entry - if during service at the dealership it is suspected that your car has been modified, or the dealership sees modifications to the powertrain (including but not limited to things such as a "cold air intake", a "short shifter", an "aftermerket clutch/flywheel combination" - see TSB linked below for additional examples) they can manually apply the TD1 flag.

Obviously the dealer has little control over the automatic assignment, but complete control over the manual assignment. The attitude towards manual assignment varies by dealership and by staff member at the dealership, so make friends with your dealership staff, then find out their attitude to mods before you mod and before you bring you car in for service.

There are also aftermarket tuning shops that have a relationship with the dealerships, and either the tuner or the dealership will provide a warranty to replace the factory warranty. Please search the site for more information on which tuners/dealerships offer this arrangement.

Pretty sure VAG don't use Stobbart. I've seen a few Audi loaded transporters on the M180 near me which links up to the main road out of Grimsby and it's a company called ECM with blue lorries every time.

ECM (Vehicle Delivery Service) Ltd

They've just taken over the contract from ECM in the last 8 weeks. Anything you see at the moment may be supplementary support helping them get out of the s**t.

Whilst you should always be prudent about warranty, this is more of an issue in the US than the UK as they are more prolific modders than the UK market (on this kind of vehicle). I'm not saying the same rules won't apply in the UK, but I've seen a lot less of these kind of stories coming out via the UK.

I'm not hugely bothered as:

1) If I'm buying a £50k car I intend to enjoy it, and if I pick up any bills along the way then so be it
2) I will service outside the dealer network so they won't be seeing the car on a regular basis
3) Most modifications will be subtle / easily removable / non traceable so again I'm not hugely bothered

The B8 3.0V6T engine is fairly robust, and I'd imagine the box to be the same. However always keep in mind that during warranty period any modifications can affect the dealers appetite to cover warranty work (sometimes good sense is applied - e.g. you'll get warranty work done on something unrelated), but you should think seriously about the implications of modifying before going ahead.

Just been going through my list of PR codes, some interesting reading
I especially like:-

8Z5 - Not hot country

5K5 - Transit coating film with additional transport protection measures

Get this!
A00 - No self-collection

Indeed I have always used the same method, always used independent tuning specialists with previous cars and i suppose it depends on how well you know your dealer (if taking to a franchised dealer). Usually if taking the car to get some warranty work done then it was easy to take the map of without a trace but kind of sucks you get a "black marker" so to speak if Audi can detect that the ECU was tinkered with.

What would be frustrating is, if you bought a used Audi that had been mapped by the previous owner and removed before selling to a dealer, then the car would get a black marker once plugged in to the system. So new owner of the car goes in for warranty work for something major, they pick up that it was tinkered with and then won't honor the warranty. I'm sure this doesn't actually happen often but dealers would like to find anything to get out of paying for repairs.

My friend managed to snap his driveshafts on his S3 8P (using Revo stg1 and doing launch starts all the time) but luckily for him he had no problems claiming under warranty.
