TVR - are you serious? They are rubbish, keep breaking down/falling to bits, gloryfied kit car trash! the quality is appauling.

Thats why no real dealers will take them off ya and your stuck with another tvr come trade-in time!

    [/ QUOTE ]

nervus, have you driven one? most people that buy them don't care if they fall to bits, it's about the experience, and I hope your not just going on the old myth that there rubbish, I have lots of friends that have owned tvr's and had very little trouble, less than I've had with my S3 infact.

Also what do you expect with the ammount of performance you get for your money? and the interiors are so much better than most cars out there - interesting and not plastic.

Can't agree more. Even though my mate's Griffith was always going wrong it certainly wasn't everyones experience. Seems that there is some luck involved and there are good ones and bad ones (what do you expect from a car made by old men in a shed in Blackpool?). But none of that really matters, there's nothing I can think of that will put such a big grin on your face for that kind of money. And, yes, the interiors are amazing!

I have driven a tuscan and it was a nice experience but that was more from the noise it made than anything else. the interior is nicely trimmed and modern in an ikea kitchen sort of way though .i've looked at them a few times but they just fail to impress me - sorry! I jsut think they look cheap and tacky but my old mans 355 was the same externally! The paint finish was even worse! new ferraris are much much better however.

I dont like the way tvr's are finished but maybe thats the tacky paint effects which seem so popular. Maybe because i know they are made by old men in sheds in blackpool. The engines are'nt exactly cutting edge technology either! Its just the fact Porsche, Audi, Ferrari, Mercedes, BMW dealers etc etc wont touch them with a barge pole not even for cheap money - so to me it puts me off big time

I used to love tvr's, but recently I drove one, and although I loved every minute of it. Don't think I could ever live with it. Still love them though!

New R32? I know for GLen (and his pursuit of handling perfection, as he puts it) it's probably not gonna cut it. But, the new GTI is getting some surprisingly good reviews in the press.

I can't think of a single car that ticks as many of Glen's boxes as a Porsche. Sure we'll see soon....

After reading many of your posts Glen, I'm almost certain you are going to be sitting in one of these very soon, if not already.

Question is, what would you mod on one of these? You are like the rest of us, you wont be able to leave it alone!

Must admit the SLK does look a lot better in real life than in photos. Still rather have others though!

If he goes Porsche id imagine he would buy a 993C2S/C4s or 996-C4S as he's done the turbo thing to death. That turbo looks sweet though

Agreed. All this talk of TVRs and SLKs just doesn't meet his requirements. Also, after reading through past threads on suspension and handling, ess_three does seems to have a hardon for porsche /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

GT3 RS, definately fits the bill and @ £83K is expensive but again probably safe money.

    so, Glen a few questions:
would consider an old classic car?
    do you require 4WD?
are Italian, Japanese and French's cars out of the equation?
do you have any other brand with a "no no!" tag on it like volvo

Old classis - they would rust awat before my eyes in the climate I live in...
    4WD...desirable perhaps...not essential.

Take a 996 Porsche Turbo for its 4wd, ditch the engine, mount a fully tuned RUF NA GT3 engine.
    That 'll do the trick.
