The New Audi A3

    According to an article in this week's Auto Express the new Audi A3, which is due for release in 2011, will be the first VAG model to use a new platform. This platform is not the one used for the current Golf 6 but a new one that is slightly longer and wider. This new platform will also be used for the Golf 7 as well as the Passat replacement.

    Auto Express are not always right - they said that the new RS3 was going to be launched at Frankfurt for example - but it would seem logical and their pictures in the same article of the new Golf 7 are based on a promotional video for VW's L1 concept which accidentally revealed a group of designers in the background hard at work on a clay styling model of the next generation Golf, suggesting a particularly short life cycle for the current car.

    2011 sounds good to me, keeps my car current-ish for a bit.
