Does anyone know what make the oem s3 discs are?
Does anyone know where would be the best place to purchase them? I've had a look on europarts but can't seem to find them.
is it possible to use standard s3 discs with r32 callipers and what lines are best to use and do they just bolt on
Nope not even close. You need R32 discs with R32 calipers. The diameter and offset of the disc are way different.
Shat about the hoses have they got to be r32 and do the calipers just bolt on
do r32 callipers bolt on and the hoses connect up with no modifications
They bolt on but I can't confirm about the hoses. Probably worth getting some braided R32 hoses anyway. You'll be fine then.

ive been offered a set of Mintex rear discs and pads that have come off a leon cupra r for peanuts. Are these a direct replacement for the rears on my s3 8l as the ones on at the minute are shot to bits. Thanks in advance
I have just fitted 996 fronts to my S3 and have a few questions.
The mc has been changed and the system bled numerous times,primed abs etc but still the pedal feels a little spongy.
Is there something that I still need to do? Might it be something to do with the new mc?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hi Just got back from the garage with a quote for 1085 euros for new rear calipers and pads plus hoses. The calipers where 251 each.
I have the chance to buy some 996 rear with discs pads and hose for 300 euros.
Will these fit on my 2002 S3?
New to this forum and my audi so need some advice!
I have an Audi S3 8L (225) with 256mm rear brakes and I'm looking for a new bigger brake disc than can be fitted on my car but it's impossible to find it...
To begin I would like a disc between 280mm and 310mm and keep my caliper with track pads, just with custom carriers.
And probably after I will change my calipers too.
Can you help me ?

ECS stage1 308mm rears. Tarox do a similar kit based in the UK I think? And there's a member doing a 300mm rear conversion using S4 discs, forgot his username.
Thanks for your answer. In the ECS tuning website, there are no more parts for Audi 8L
And on Tarox website it's always written "all 8L except S3" But the brake discs are too small.
Definitely it's not easy to find. I could buy brake discs from last Audi S3 or TT-RS and drill holes to fit on my car, but I don't know if it's viable in the time, especially in a track configuration.
I currently have standard brakes with ds2500 pads and superblue fluid. I am looking at upgrading my discs mainly for the visual benefits (any added performance would be great).

Just checked and both discs are the same size as standard. Is there any car that comes with slightly larger rear discs that would fit straight on without me having to change anything else?

I'm pretty sure my 2001 A3 TQS has 288mm front and 239mm rear disks. I've just fitted new rear ones. Can anyone confirm this?

239mm x 9mm solid rear for sure, I got the 232mm based on this thread.
Had to send them back To mtec. Who laughed at me on the phone.
I didn't want anyone else to fall for it, but wasn't 100% that is not my car having some weird setup. To my knowledge it's all standard.

Standard rears are absolutely 232x9mm
239 are found on the front end of low spec smaller cars and mk2 golfs!
Think I've narrowed it down now.
Seems that there's a limited run of 4motion/quattro/octavias fitted with 239mm solid rears.
Should I expect everything else on my car to be weird as well?!
Not read all six pages, going back to the first post, Octavia VRS rear brakes also came with a 41mm piston

I'm not disputing you guys at all, I've just had a little search and found a few ebay listings for 239 TQ rears.

RS3 brake install
1x pair of RS3 calipers
1x pair of mk4 R32 334mm discs (in my case ebc)
1x pair of brake pads (ebc red stuff, Evo X shares same caliper/pads)
1x set of epytec adapters
1x set of custom HEL hoses from DAGhosesupplies
And peanut the bulldog
Firstly I will confirm that the pistons are 44/40mm
The R32 discs measure 70mm depth:
The inside and outside of the discs are chamfered so this is not very accurate, actual surface depth is prob more like 65/66mm
Whilst the RS3 pads measure 60mm depth:
This results in a very minimal unswept area:
Now onto the adapters. They're great quality:
Compared to the stock rs3 calipers designed for a 370mm disc:
Unfortunately the bolts supplied are only half threaded so don't fit into the calipers, I had to reuse the stock carrier bolts:

Don't be fooled, whilst the diameter increase isn't all that much, 312 vs 334, the new discs are 32mm wide compared to 28, and this makes them incredibly heavy!
Now onto the car
Fit the lines (I fit them into the caliper and quickly swap the lines from oem to new)
Fit the discs and they look like this: (******* awesome)
Now, do they fit in the wheels?
My wheels are 17x8 et35:
5mm Spacers required (now effectively an offset of et30):

18.2044% larger than stock
1.0235% larger than 18Z
19.219% larger than stock
9.6877% larger than TTRS
10.7086% larger than 18Z
28.7728% larger than stock

To add to that, it's worth noting that brembo Jnr GT and LCR calipers have an area of 2272mm2, so are actually smaller hydraulically than stock, hence the fantastic pedal feel they give.

Well, pedal feel is a subjective thing. I like a bit of travel rather than a switch but everyone is different. Like I say, the 6 pots hardly mean horrible feel.
I've not taken the car on track as that'll be the true test.
I love the dual stage braking of a decent 6pot design
The finesse of the 1st feather stage is great for smooth driving
Maybe some folks are so lead-footed though they don't know anything other than stamping, and assume the feather stage is travel ?
