Got chance yesterday to test fit my new bumper,
I was quite suprised that its doesn't need all that much doing, its a very tight fit with the radiator and arches, one downer was it arrived with some small crack at either side, easily repairable.
i've got an RS4 center grill to go in and a spare s3 grill i'm going to try and fit some hexagon mesh to match the lower grills. and make the side grills as i'm going to run with no fog lights.
    few pics below.
all I need now is it spraying and a FMIC to go behind it to look mean!

Yes, "Minge" Blue does look awesome in the sun all polished up, but your S3 would look awesome in Ibis White?

When your bumpers on it should look a bit like this just with a big FMIC on it?

    Bad news...
took it in to the body this morning they test fitted the bumper which does fit but the cracks that it sustained during delivery were terminal! they have traveled further down under the gel coat that they had expected and he just advised me to not bother. ah well bit cheesed off about that but....
asked him to smooth front and rear bumper instead as they were a bit stonechipped and a few scratches also... so i left it with him hes had an S3 in before with the fatal door problem and being the bloke he is he took off the door trims and what did he find....BUBBLES! yes bubbling with rust. i got the phone call and as soon as i put the phone down with him, I phoned audi and my car is going to be scruitinised in the next couple of days.... i will update in a couple of days

I was under the impression that nothing is unsalvagable with enough effort. Can you not reinforce the rear of the bumper in the cracked areas with extra fibre glass? Perhaps a second opinion from another bodyshop?

    Thanks Daz,
Sorry to hear this Si, where did you have the bumper from?
Now i know why not many of these bumpers get fitted because they all seem to be poorly made,
TBH honest when i got my bumper it wasnt so good but it seens to be that other manufacturer are even worse.

well its strong enough, its just when it has to flex to get the bumper on the car he says it will just crack, if you flex the bumper it travels 2.5" right down i am just going to strengthen it and do work on it myself then maybe get sprayed if i'm feeling flush with money to burn!!

Geeza, your car will look the dogs u no when its done. You shud fit the fogs in the side grills or behind them for the stealth look when they are off. Also man, smooth out the front plate recess and go plateless and best of all, get some facelift headlights!! just a few suggestions:) :arco:

I think it will look great, stick the good old splitter on too and it will look mint.

I hope to see it at the next meet in Gaydon.

I've always wanted to buy the same bumper and cut the openings bigger to get it looking more like the bumper below:

Take it to another bodyshope, one that specialises in fibregalss cars and parts. It should be veyr simple to do, all they need do is destress it, by fitting it, drilling / grinding the cracks out, they reglassing / reinforcing them.

Actually its very simple!! You will find the fibregalss will not be as resilient to parking knocks etc, so may well need a repaint in couple of years anyway.

It is photoshopped, the bottom grilles have been stretched to make them taller.

I know that bumper has been photoshoped but I just think it looks nice. Your bumper does look very similar. If you could get it looking that the red one I think it'll look great :beerchug:

oh and an update for the warranty claim...
    Audi SAYS NO!
been resprayed before apparently according to his paint thickness meter measuring on average 109-139 microns.
but i did find out why the car isn't on audi's UK records. its was a personal import for superchips uk! thats why elephant tried to fleece me with insurance, but i knocked them back.
ah well going into shop again next week to get the offending areas re-done!
